Apart from improving the quality of life, the rapid development of Information Technology has challenged us all. To manage the complexities of information security, much research has been conducted by world-renowned scientists and experts. On November 14th, DTU, in collaboration with the Institute of Information Technology at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, held the 16th National IT Conference, entitled “Selected Problems about IT and Telecommunications”. There were more than three hundred participants, including ten foreign experts from the US, Sweden and Japan, which confirmed the global significance and necessity for such meetings.

Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, said:
"Celebrating our 20th anniversary, DTU is honored to welcome you all to the 16th National IT Conference. Since our inception, DTU has recognized IT to be one of the major disciplines. In 2008, DTU and Carnegie Mellon University, one of the four leading American universities in IT, signed an agreement for the licensing of Software Engineering, Information Systems and Network Security curricula to DTU. Carnegie Mellon has since sent many world-class IT experts to Duy Tan to organize talks and seminars. Over 100 DTU IT lecturers have attended the annual train-the-trainer sessions at CMU every summer. By acquiring up-to-date education through internationally standardized curricula, one hundred percent of DTU graduates have received job offers on graduation and some were even employed as interns before graduation. With plans to develop DTU into an e-University in the near future, DTU wants to learn at this conference about new concepts and research applications in IT, so that we can apply them ourselves in Vietnam."
Mr. Phung Tan Viet delivers a speech at the conference
Since the first conference was held in Dai Lai in Thai Nguyen province in 1997, the National IT and Telecommunications Conference has become an annual forum for experts, teachers and managers to exchange ideas and experiences and look for new partnerships.
The conference was attended by Mr. Phung Tan Viet, the Danang People’s Committee Vice-Chairman, who said:
"As one of the five self-governed cities planned as key national economic zones, Danang has focused much attention on IT and made many sound investments in both hardware and software, to promote the development of local industries and services. As a results, Danang has topped the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) index for a third consecutive year, marking the sixth year that it has been listed among the top five cities and provinces across the country in term of readiness for ICT application and development. By focusing on developing the IT industry, Danang is making preparations to build the city into an e-Government hub in the near future. So this is a very important conference. Since its establishment, DTU has made remarkable progress, especially in enhancing international collaboration to improve the quality of education. DTU has become a prestigious provider of a well-qualified IT labor force in the Central Region. The conference provides an excellent way of finding practical solutions to promote IT and overcome the wide-ranging challenges of network security."
Professor Duong Ngoc Hai addresses the conference
Professor Duong Ngoc Hai, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said:
"The sustained efforts of Vietnamese scientists in IT research and development have attracted world attention. The participation of more than three hundred national and international attendees affirms the importance of the conference, as well as the improvement in quality of papers submitted. Many topics, like Information Security, Cloud Computing, Cyber-Intelligence Analysis, Augmenting Human Communication, IT Governance and Management Perspectives for the Future and so on will be discussed at the two-day event, which provides researchers the opportunity to access and exchange current ideas concerning future research trends."
Sixteenth National IT Conference was a great opportunity for DTU and other participants to improve the partnerships between scientists, managers, universities and research institutes nationwide, and promote international collaboration in the development of the IT sector.
