Annual Blood Donation Day at DTU

On 9th May, the DTU Youth Union collaborated with the Danang Red Cross Association to hold a “Blood Donation Day” at the DTU campus. This was the first blood donation of 2013, and drew more than 600 DTU lecturers, staff and students.

DTU students donate blood

“Blood Donation Day” has been an annual activity of DTU Youth Union, with the aim of contributing blood to local hospitals to provide blood to the poor. It has also helped improve the awareness of sharing with the others in the community.

This was the first time that Pham Thi Minh Ngoc, a student of K17QNH3 had donated her blood, so she could not hide her fear. She said: “I felt very nervous waiting my turn. However, the friendliness and consideration of the medical team calmed me. I am very happy to contribute to society. Hopefully, the blood I donated can save cancer patients who are in need of it”.

Whenever I donate blood, I do believe that a patient’s life will be saved. Moreover, my health has improved a lot after the seventh time and I feel healthier than two years ago. I am very happy to see more and more students volunteer to help the patients”.

About 300 units were donated and sent to blood banks nationwide. With the motto: “Some More Blood Given, Another Life Saved”, DTU’s young people hope to share something with the community for a better life.
