On 24th May, 2011, Mr. Alistair Crozier, New Zealand Embassy Deputy Head of Mission and Ms. Tran Phuong Nga, Business Development Manager of the New Zealand Trade & Enterprise Board visited DTU.
The objective of the visit was to extend the partnerships between the New Zealand government and Vietnamese universities. Mr. Crozier stated: “Thanks to its environment and its people, Danang is developing fast. New Zealand wants to expand its collaboration with universities here as we know that education here is expanding fast too”.

Mr. Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman and Rector, thanked Mr.Crozier for his visit and said: “DTU and our staff have been academic innovators and collaboration with New Zealand universities will help DTU lecturers gain experience in advanced teaching methods to create a better study environment for students”.
At the meeting, Mr. Alistair Crozier and Ms. Tran Phuong Nga also announced details of new scholarship and study-abroad programs granted by the New Zealand government to DTU lecturers and students.
“New Zealand’s population is only 4 million with 8 highly-reputable universities and 20 vocational polytechnic institutes. Studying in New Zealand can offer many new opportunities, with graduation certificates recognized internationally”, Ms. Nga said. Details on how to select a university and how to apply for a scholarship and then a student visa were also explained at the meeting.
Ms. Tran Phuong Nga answers questions from DTU lecturers
Annually, New Zealand grants 170 scholarships to international students every year, of which 30 are for Vietnamese. Applicants must meet the English language requirements, have at least 2 years work experience and commit to returning to Vietnam after graduation for work.
