On December 12th, 2010, on hearing the sad news that the Mother of Vietnamese Heroes, Nguyen Thi Thu had passed away at the age of 107, DTU Youth members, lead by Mr. Pham Dang Quang, their Secretary, paid tribute at her funeral.
DTU Youth Union Pays Tribute to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu
"DTU Youth members profoundly appreciate her tremendous sacrifices, and deeply mourn for the passing of the Vietnamese Mother of Heroes, Nguyen Thi Thu". Mr. Pham Dang Quang wrote in the book of mourning.
Nguyen Thi Thu was born in 1904, in Quang Nam province. In the wars against France and America, her husband, nine children, her son-in-law and two grandchildren sacrificed their lives for national independence. She was awarded the title “Vietnamese Mother of Heroes” by the president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the National Assembly on December 17th, 1994.
