On August 29th, 2010, Volunteer Club members paid a visit to an orphanage at the Quan Chau Pagoda in Danang to kick off the next year’s “Volunteer Campaign”.
This event attracted over 70 participants, including DTU students and others. Participants were divided into two groups. The first group was in charge of laundry, cooking and teaching children the alphabet. The second one was responsible for cutting firewood and cleaning the pagoda’s garden. After lunch, the Volunteer Club presented a singing and dancing and gifts for the children.
Established early in 2009/2010, the club is one of the most active clubs at DTU, their work focuses on charitable activities and is funded by 3 million VND raised from donations of members and fund-raising activities, such as part time jobs, selling calligraphy, movie ticket and so on.
"These monthly events will bring joy to unfortunate people and raise student awareness and compassion of their plight. That's the most meaningful reason for joining the club" said Mr. Tran Van Vi, Club Chairman.
