The Sun Wheel: One of the World’s Highest Ferris Wheels

The Sun Wheel was built under the direction of German, Japanese and Thai technologists by Vietnamese engineers and workers and opened on July 18th, 2014 at Asia Park, just south of the September 2 Memorial, in the Hai Chau district. The Sun Wheel combines modern architecture with a blend of cultural features from Vietnam and other Asian countries, designed by Mr. Bill Bensley, the architect who also conceived the stunningly beautiful InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. Visitors can now view Danang from various heights of up to 115 meters and the giant wheel rotates once every fifteen minutes. It can transport a maximum of 384 passengers in its 64 cabins and is one of the biggest Ferris wheels in the world. The Sun Wheel was open from nine to eleven pm on the first night, when visitors also enjoyed sophisticated arts performances. Riders can now view Danang at sunset or at night from a completely new perspective. Residents can be as proud of their Sun Wheel, just like those in other locations around the world, including the London Eye in England, the Singapore Flyer, the Beijing Great Wheel, the Texas Star and the Big O in Japan. It is 5.7km from The Sun Wheel to Duy Tan University,
