Competing against the world's best teams

Organized by the SAP ERPsim Lab and HEC Montréal, the ERPsim International Competition 2026 provides an ideal platform for talented students to challenge themselves in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) management - a technology that is increasingly adopted by businesses worldwide to optimize management and operational efficiency.

Widely regarded as the "World Cup" for ERPsim teams around the globe, the competition brings together the world's top university teams in enterprise management simulation.

Representing Vietnam, the DTU team competed against leading teams from Canada, Finland, the United Kingdom, Mexico, the Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, and Slovenia through four highly competitive rounds.

This year's competition adopted the ERPsim Manufacturing Sustainability scenario on the SAP S/4HANA platform, featuring a significantly higher level of complexity and practical relevance than previous editions.

Teams were required not only to optimize manufacturing operations, procurement, sales, and financial performance, but also to make strategic decisions related to sustainability, supplier selection, technology investment, and CO₂ emissions management. Throughout the competition, they had to respond to rapidly increasing carbon taxes and simulated supply chain disruptions designed to closely reflect real-world business conditions.

The DTU team delivered an inspiring and impressive performance throughout the competition. After finishing only 10th out of 12 teams in the opening round, they quickly adjusted their strategy to climb into the Top 3 in both Rounds 2 and 3 before staging a remarkable comeback to finish first in the final round. Their performance has been recognized as one of the most impressive comebacks in the history of the ERPsim International Competition.

Surpassing strong competitors from Canada, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Finland, and other countries, DTU claimed the Championship with a Company Valuation of EUR 158.09 million - the highest achieved throughout the competition.

"For me and my teammates, ERPsim was more than just a competition; it was a truly meaningful learning journey. Every decision had to be made based on real-time data within a limited timeframe. We constantly analyzed the market, balanced business performance with sustainability goals, and adapted to the ever-changing simulation environment," shared Vo Thanh Ngan, a member of the championship team.

Successfully defending the championship title for the second consecutive year further demonstrates DTU's strength in application-oriented education, close collaboration with industry, and hands-on training using the SAP ERP platform. The achievement also reinforces the University's prestige and standing within the international ERPsim education community.

Team spirit and determination

Accompanying the team throughout the competition, Mr. Le Cao Duy from the DTU Business Intelligence Center (BIC),  remarked: "What impressed me most was the team's resilience and determination. After finishing only 10th in Round 1, they did not let the ranking discourage them. Instead, they immediately analyzed the data, reassessed their strategy, and adjusted their production, sales, and financial decisions.

Through effective teamwork and rapid adaptability, they steadily advanced into the Top 3 in the next two rounds before making a decisive breakthrough to win the championship. This achievement is clear evidence of DTU students' teamwork, analytical thinking, and decision-making capabilities in today's digital business environment."
