Young woman from Gia Lai who dreams of becoming a tour operator
Anh Phuong, a third-year student in Tourism & Travel Management, has outstandingly won a 2026 Global Korea Scholarship to study at Chungbuk National University.
This is a well-deserved reward for the persistent efforts of this student from sunny and windswept Gia Lai in the Central Highlands.
Growing up in a modest farming family but with abundant love and support, Anh Phuong early on developed independence, a strong will to improve her life, and a serious study attitude.
“From a desire to become a tour operator, to design distinctive programs, and to promote the image of Vietnam and its people to an international audience, I chose DTU to pursue my studies in tourism,” Anh Phuong explains.
“At DTU, I’ve been equipped with a foundation of professional knowledge and many essential soft skills, which let me gradually grow my professional competence.
“I was even happier when I received the Global Korea Scholarship to officially embark on a new study journey in an international education environment. It’s a hugely meaningful opportunity for me to get closer to my dream.”
To secure this prestigious scholarship, Anh Phuong started preparing early: a clear study plan, constant strong academic performance, and continuous work on her foreign language skills. She also always kept a relaxed mindset and self-confidence.
Foreign language proficiency is a major challenge for the application. Anh Phuong therefore actively worked on her language skills every day by expanding her vocabulary, practicing grammar structures, putting in regular practice, and using technology-assisted learning tools for the best results.
For her six-month study period at Chungbuk National University, Anh Phuong has high expectations of enhancing her professional knowledge, gaining exposure to modern teaching methods, developing research and teamwork skills, and directly experiencing Korean culture and student life - to continue her personal growth.

Gia Lan’s interest in learning Korean began with suggestions from his mother when he was in 11th grade: “My mother told me how useful Korean is and about its interesting aspects, and so I decided to give it a try.
“Especially as I had always wanted to challenge myself with a new language. The more I studied, the more clearly I felt the distinctive cultural values associated with this language.
