DTU lecturers and students a happy with the two big awards

After the preliminary and semifinal rounds, the six strongest teams were selected for the finals on November 8, 2025. DTU had two teams in the top six:

?    DTU - KKT, and
?    DTU - THE TRIPLE BOOKS

In the final round, the two DTU teams competed in two thrilling parts: Case Presentation and Debate, where they could demonstrate their professional abilities and sharp thinking.

Thanks to their thorough and detailed preparation for each of the parts, both DTU teams won well-deserved awards:

- The title of Runners-up was awarded to the DTU - THE TRIPLE BOOKS team, consisting of Pham Thi Ngoc Linh, Nguyen Thi Viet Trinh, and Khong Nguyen Minh Khoa. The team outstandingly dealt with a case involving the implementation of ERP, e-invoices, cloud storage, and digital signatures for an enterprise whose staff lacked sufficient capacity and legal understanding to validate the equivalence of electronic and paper documents. The DTU team developed a step-by-step digital transformation roadmap that included internal training, standardizing accounting procedures, setting ERP permissions, and referencing regulations such as decree 123/2020/NÐ-CP and circular 78/2021/TT-BTC to ensure the legality of electronic documents. During the debate session, the team demonstrated their risk-management thinking and solid professionalism when addressing an inventory-related issue: identifying the causes of value decline of goods, and applying VAS 02 and circular 200 to propose a standardized process from stocktaking and disposal to provisioning and correctly recording expenses. The team was highly praised for proposing preventive measures such as applying FIFO, expiration alerts, and periodic stocktaking.

- A consolation prize was awarded to the DTU - KKT team, consisting of Nguyen Thi Le, Nguyen Ho Quynh Huong, and Le Thi Huynh Nhu. Faced with a hypothetical scenario asking how an accountant should remain honest and objective under pressure from supervisors or clients, the DTU – KKT team clearly and thoughtfully presented their viewpoint: revenue should only be recorded when risks and benefits have genuinely been transferred. They also emphasized the importance of professional ethics training and compliance with accounting standards. The team also did well in the debate section about allocating fixed-asset lease costs and accurate accounting.

Thorough preparation and strong focus earned the DTU students multiple awards

“To deliver our best performance, we thoroughly researched topics related to accounting, decrees, circulars, VAS standards, and finance, and we practiced our presentation skills,” Khong Nguyen Minh Khoa, a student member of the runner-up team explains. “We received super enthusiastic support for this from Dr Ho Tuan Vu, the Dean of the Faculty of Accounting at the School of Business & Economics, and from all the lecturers of financial accounting and auditing & analysis at the Faculty of Accounting and of the PSU program at the Faculty of Vietnamese–American Management & Economics. This strengthened our professional knowledge and our teamwork and problem-solving skills.

“The knowledge we learned at DTU about the principles of accounting, financial analysis, and logical thinking were applied very effectively during the competition. The title of runners-up is a really well-deserved reward for our continuous efforts and a motivation for us to keep striving in our academic journey and future careers.”

Dr Ho Tuan Vu, Dean of the Faculty of Accounting at the DTU School of Business & Economics, who regularly accompanies students to competitions, explains: “This contest is a highly practical intellectually playground where students can engage with common professional scenarios and flexibly apply the knowledge they learned to actual work situations. It is also a valuable opportunity for students to network, exchange, and impress leading businesses and recruiters in accounting, auditing, finance, and tax.”
