On the afternoon of October 19, 2025, DTU, in collaboration with Troy University (USA), solemnly held the Commencement Ceremony for Students of American Degree Program in Vietnam. The event marked a meaningful milestone in the graduates’ academic journey and personal growth, celebrating future global citizens who have been trained according to American education standards right here in Vietnam.

Dr. Jack Hawkins, Chancellor at Troy University, delivers remarks at the ceremony
The On-Site American Degree Program in Vietnam was launched in December 2014, built on partnerships between Duy Tan University and several prestigious American universities, with Troy University serving as its leading strategic partner. Through this program, students have the opportunity to earn an American bachelor’s degree entirely in Vietnam, with all courses taught 100% in English and in accordance with international accreditation standards.
Currently, Troy University offers two main degree programs at DTU:
- Computer Science
- Tourism and Hospitality Management
Students in these programs complete four years of study at DTU under the instruction of a highly qualified team of international and Vietnamese faculty, ensuring an academic experience equivalent to that of students studying in the United States.

At the ceremony, Professor Jack Hawkins, President of Troy University, expressed pride in the achievements of Troy Program students at DTU: "It is a great pleasure for me to join today’s Commencement Ceremony for Troy Program students at Duy Tan University. Allow me to share the story of one of our very first graduates in Vietnam, Dang Duc from Hanoi. His degree from Troy University helped him secure a position as Executive Director at Samsung in China. Today, Duc has returned to Hanoi, leading the Programming Department at Samsung. This demonstrates that education can turn possibilities into reality.
We live in a world full of diversity, and I believe that each of you will grow into global citizens who appreciate and embrace different cultures. I am proud of you all, and I trust that you will apply your knowledge and skills to shape a bright and promising future."

Distinguished Teacher, Hero of Labor Le Cong Co said: "As a soldier returning from the battlefield, I witnessed the pain and losses endured by the people. It was during those challenging years that I nurtured a profound aspiration-to provide Vietnam’s younger generation with the opportunity to learn and access world-class education right here in their homeland. DTU was founded on a strong belief in the potential of every individual and our nation. Today, the collaboration between DTU and Troy University stands not only as a symbol of international integration but also as a testament to our continuous pursuit of knowledge. “I hope this degree will serve as a solid foundation for students to step confidently into the world and contribute to building a strong, prosperous, and globally integrated Vietnam.”
The moment when the new graduates received their diplomas was truly moving. The smiles, tears, and congratulatory hugs reflected the pride of the students and their families after four years of sustained efforts. The American bachelor’s degree new graduates were awarded today is not only a testament to their academic achievements but also a key that opens the door to the future, enabling them to confidently work in international settings and become global citizens equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resilience to thrive in a connected world.
Nguyen Thuy Duong, a new Computer Science graduate, shared: “The four-year journey was far from easy, but it was precisely those challenges that helped us grow and learn invaluable lessons. Today, we not only hold our diplomas in hand but also carry with us a wealth of experiences, friendships, and life values. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to DTU and Troy University for providing an exceptional learning environment where we could develop and connect. My heartfelt thanks also go to my teachers, family, and friends for being a constant source of encouragement and support. From today onwards, even as each of us embarks on our own path, let us always cherish the lessons, friendships, and resilience that have brought us to this milestone.”
