DTU Grants Four Years of Free Tuition to Orphaned Student Ha Bao Chau, Newspaper Readers Give Her Support

Ha Bao Chau, a freshman from Danang who lost both parents and has to work to cover her own education - received joyful news when DTU awarded her a scholarship fully covering tuition throughout the four years of her studies.

According to information provided to Tuoi Tre Online on October 2, the DTU Enrollment Center announced that the university had granted a four-year scholarship fully covering tuition throughout the four years of her studies to Bao Chau, a first-year student in Tourism & Travel Management.

 

Bao Chau was the subject of the article Alone in a House Without Parents, Steadfast Danang Girl Enrolls at Duy Tan University, published on Tuoi Tre Online on September 27.

 

“After reading about Ha Bao Chau’s special circumstances and her admirable willpower when facing hardship, the Director of the Enrollment Center promptly reported to the DTU Board of Provosts,” the DTU Enrollment Center announced.

 

“Moved by Bao Chau’s resilience and potential, the DTU Provost decided to award her a scholarship fully covering tuition throughout the four years of her studies.

 

“The decision not only reflects the administration’s considersations but also reaffirms the university’s educational philosophy of serving the community and its commitment to nurturing talent, creating equal opportunities, and spreading human values -to ensure that no student has to give up their dream of education due to difficulties in life.”

 

Mr Ha Thuc Vinh, head of Trung Son neighborhood in Lien Chieu ward (Danang), said that after Tuoi Tre Online published the article about Bao Chau, the Lien Chieu ward leadership and other benefactors visited her home to offer support.

 

The Lien Chieu ward Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Bao Chau a scholarship worth 5 million VND, the ward Youth Union granted her a scholarship worth 500,000 VND, and BIDV Hai Van branch provided 24 million VND in assistance.

Mr Duong Thai Son, Director of Nam Long paper packaging manufacturing & trading LLC (Binh Duong) and a longtime benefactor of Tuoi Tre’s “Tiep suc den truong” scholarships program, decided to mentor Bao Chau and give her 12 million VND per year for the four years of her studies.

 

On September 27, at the “Tiep suc den truong” scholarships ceremony for new students in Danang held by Tuoi Tre newspaper in Hoi An, Bao Chau also received a scholarship worth 15 million VND and a new laptop.

 

“I’d like to sincerely thank the benefactors from Tuoi Tre newspaper, Mr Duong Thai Son, the people in Danang, and the DTU Board of Provosts for supporting me in my academic journey,” Bao Chau said. “Your assistance motivates me to study even harder so as not to disappoint anyone.”
