The National Student Biology Olympiad is an annual event organized by the Vietnam Biological Association in collaboration with host universities. It is sponsored by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and formally recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The 5th installment of the Olympiad was the first time DTU has sent a student team, and they achieved respectable results. This success reflects the continuous efforts of both lecturers and students and affirms the university’s advanced training quality and strong commitment to equipping students with solid knowledge and skills.
The 5th Olympiad took place from August 22 to 24, 2025, at the Hue University of Education. It attracted 155 students (the largest number in the competition’s history) from 26 teams of 25 universities and academies across the country.
The participants brought creativity and innovative ideas, creating a lively academic atmosphere while fueling passion for the life sciences.
Luong Ngoc Mai Anh, a DTU student, shared: "Both rounds of the competition posed significant challenges. For the theoretical round, we needed to combine memorization with logical thinking, while in the practical round, we had to perform animal dissections. Every step had to be executed with absolute precision, so we had to stay extremely focused. We’re only in our first year, but the encouragement of lecturers and friends made us very determined, and we got results to be truly proud of.”

Honing courage and skills
"The medical and healthcare programs at our university are very systematic and of high quality. We acquire a great deal of new knowledge and have opportunities to join many prestigious academic competitions, which helps us hone our courage and essential skills for our future careers. Beyond our efforts, the wholehearted support of our teachers during our studies and the competition gave us great motivation to overcome challenges and grow significantly," Mai Anh said.
DTU’s lecturers and students also received a certificate of merit for their outstanding performance at the 5th National Biology Olympiad. On behalf of the university, Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Dang delivered a speech and received the hosting flag for the 6th National Student Biology Olympiad in 2026.
DTU, in the beautiful coastal city of Danang, will be the next venue of the Olympiad. With a strong sense of responsibility and continuous effort, the university is committed to providing unique experiences for all participants in the 6th National Student Biology Olympiad next year.
