In recognition of her outstanding achievements, DTU awarded Thao Vi a full scholarship to pursue her chosen major in Multimedia Communications. This is a well-deserved reward for her hard work.

Perfect score in Geography

Born and raised in the peaceful rural commune of Go Noi (Danang), Thao Vi is the youngest of four siblings. Whenever she is not helping out her parents, who work in the wedding services, she is completely devoted to studying.

By organizing her time scientifically and balancing attentive hours in class with disciplined self-study, Thao Vi has achieved many academic goals. Geography is her favorite subject. Unlike many other students who consider it a mere graduation requirement, Thao Vi sees beauty in the subject itself.

“I started to enjoy Geography in junior high,” Thao Vi explains. “Every time I study maps, weather, climate, or economic regions, I feel a stronger connection to my roots. Central Vietnam, where I was born and raised, often suffers from natural disasters - droughts and floods - and I got into geography from a desire to understand their causes. But then the more I studied it, the more it fascinated me - not just nature and geographical locations, but also because the subject gave me deep insights into people, society, the economy - almost the entirety of life around us.”

This spurred her to develop her own study method tailored to her favorite subject.

She went on to win a consolation prize in Geography in the provincial Skilled Student contest in 2024-2025 (when she was in 12th grade), and earned a perfect score in Geography on the HSGE, contributing to her overall score of 27.34/30.

With her academic ability proven in her impressive results, Thao Vi has been awarded a full scholarship from DTU.

“My parents have four children, and they always believe that no matter how hard life gets, they must do what they can to get us to the end of our education,” Thao Vi explains. “That’s why I dedicate this full scholarship to them: to thank them for their unconditional sacrifices to us. The scholarship also eases the financial burden on my family and brings me so much joy as I’m about to embark on this new journey of university learning.”

Choosing Multimedia Communications

Today’s Gen-Z students tend to be quite practical when exploring and choosing their college majors. Thao Vi is no exception: she has spent much time reflecting on what she has, what she needs, and what she must do.

“I’m quite sociable and enthusiastic and I adapt well,” Thao Vi confesses. “I also love creating content and I wish to spread positive inspiration to the people around me.

“I wanted to find a university that combines good learning environment, lecturing team, and facilities, so I can develop my strengths, express my individuality, and nurture my long-term career aspirations.

“Through my research, I found that Multimedia Communications at DTU has everything I was looking for. That’s why I feel truly happy and confident that my time at university will be filled with exciting experiences.”

Thao Vi’s favorite quote is, “Climb mountains not so the world can see you, but so you can see the world.” It reflects her profound and powerful life perspective: Success is not about proving oneself to others, but about gaining the chance to see farther and to understand life and oneself more deeply.
