DTU Students Win Global Business Management Championship

DTU students have won the championship of the ERPsim International Competition 2025, a global contest that simulates real-world enterprise management using SAP software.

This marks the first time a Vietnamese team has won the top prize in this prestigious international competition. The finals this year gathered the fifteen strongest teams from the US, Finland, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Chile, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines. DTU’s team, Dongry Corporation, was one of two Vietnamese teams competing in the ERPsim International Competition 2025.

The contest was co-organized by SAP University Alliances - a program by SAP, a worldwide group specialized in business & production management solutions - and HEC Montreal. Participating teams competed online by managing a simulated sustainable manufacturing company using the SAP S/4HANA platform. Teams were evaluated based on financial performance, production-distribution strategy, and carbon emissions management.

Over four rounds, the teams ran a breakfast cereal (muesli) manufacturing company with twelve product lines. Starting from scratch - no inventory and no supply chain - the competitors had to build and manage the entire operation: from strategic planning, procurement, production, and product development to accounting, finance, logistics and distribution. Teams also faced unexpected disruptions and had to manage carbon emissions.

DTU’s Dongry Corporation impressed the judges with their financial management, operational efficiency, and innovative sustainable growth strategies that balanced economic gain with environmental responsibility. The top ten also included teams from China, Finland, the US, Canada, the Philippines, and Hanoi University of Science & Technology.

Nguyen Duy Vu, COO of the team from DTU, explains how ERPsim is a practical playground for students passionate about business and technology. The team members could experience the roles of department heads where every decision impacts the company’s survival.

“The competition taught us to think strategically across the board, from finance managing, marketing, and production to profit and carbon emission control,” Vu adds, emphasizing that this victory is not just a personal achievement or one of the university, but a reflection of the capabilities and confidence of Vietnamese students in global contests.

MSc Nguyen Minh Nhat, Deputy Dean of the SouthStar Management Institute (SMi) and Director of the Business Intelligence Center (BIC), supported the DTU team. He explains that ERPsim 2025 had a large reach, gathering teams from some of the world’s top universities. Dongry Corporation had a memorable journey, from national champions to champions of the Asia–Pacific region, to finally outperform fourteen strong teams and become world champions, besting even the 2024 world champions from China.

He also notes that the team started in fourth position in the opening round, steadily advanced to third, then second position, to finally break through to win the highest place in the fourth round. This result demonstrates the success of DTU’s education strategy oriented towards practice and innovation.
