at the Center for Education and Global Opportunities, speaks at the event
Mr. Wu Chong Chuan, Director of the Experience learning program at the Center for Education and Global Opportunities, shared: “It’s truly an honor to be here with all of you for this exciting week-long program. To begin with, I’d like to thank VNU Ho Chi Minh City and DTU for organizing this wonderful opportunity. This program gives SMU students a chance to go beyond the classroom and immerse themselves in the culture, history, and daily life of Vietnam. This week, you will meet local students, discover the beautiful landscapes in Danang, and enjoy its cuisine. I encourage everyone to seize every opportunity during this visit. I also hope Vietnamese students, especially those from Danang, will take this chance to share their perspectives and learn from the SMU students as well.”
The 2025 experience learning program is a joint initiative between SMU, the Institute for Leadership Development at VNU Ho Chi Minh City, and DTU, with the aim of fostering international academic exchange and providing students with access to modern management knowledge while experiencing local culture and daily life.

Many activities of the program help students gain modern management knowledge while experiencing local culture and life
The students participating in the program will give presentations on many interesting topics, including exploring and comparing Vietnamese and Singaporean English to better understand how language reflects the culture of each country, waste management and sustainable environmental development in Vietnam and Singapore, heritage conservation in Hoi An and Singapore, and economic development and international relations between the two countries.
Scheduled to take place from May 5 to 9, 2025, the program features many academic activities, field trips, topic-based discussions, and cultural exchange.

Academic activities, field trips, topic-based discussions, and cultural exchange attract many students’ participation
Dr. Le Quoc Bao, Vice Director of the Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Danang, said: “2025 marks an important year for both Singapore and Vietnam, as well as for our universities. This year, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Singapore’s National Day and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day. We also recently commemorated the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification. These milestones carry deep significance for both nations. Therefore, I think we can have more activities in the future to build friendships and contribute to the relationship between the two countries.
Just last March, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong visited Vietnam and later posted two popular Vietnamese songs on his TikTok account. We all know that culture can bring people closer, and I hope that during this event in Da Nang, you will have the opportunity to learn more about Vietnam’s culture and its people. I sincerely thank SMU and DTU for their warm hospitality and enthusiastic support in making this program possible.”
