Le Van Quyen with 28.79/30 points: Overcome hardships and committed to education (School of Engineering & Technology, SET)

Van Quyen from Ha Tinh grew up in a family with very difficult circumstances: his father is battling with cancer and is blind in one eye, while his mother is suffering from kidney failure.

“Witnessing my parents’ hardships and the shortages my family suffers, all I can do is focus on studying hard in the hope that education and a degree will give me the chance to change my life and allow me to support my family more,” Van Quyen explains.

Van Quyen’s hard work paid off with a remarkable 28.79/30 points in the 2024 HSGE, including a perfect score in Geography. Despite the high score which could secure him admission to any university, the constant worry of not having the money to continue his education weighs on him. Recognizing his perseverance in the face of hardship and his academic abilities, DTU awarded Van Quyen a full scholarship (completely covering tuition fees).

With his choice for both Tourism and Fashion Design, Van Quyen dreams of one day owning his own service and fashion brand. “Ever since I was little, I’ve loved sewing machines and fabrics,” he explains, “and I enjoy immersing myself in designs for the most beautiful outfits. Life would be amazing if people stayed healthy, experienced and traveled the world, and always felt fresh and confident in life and work. My dream is to create my own global fashion brand. The brand that I’m thinking of not only provides aesthetics but also aligns with sustainable and environmental values.”

Nguyen Diem Quynh with 28.37/30 points: Scholarship a gift for parents (Hospitality & Tourism Institute, HTi)

Born and raised in a family of farmers, Nguyen Diem Quynh from Quang Ngai and her siblings deeply understand how hard their parents have to work, which is why they never slacked in their studies. Through her determination and efforts, Diem Quynh maintained the title of comprehensively skilled student throughout high school and scored an impressive 28.37/30 points in the 2024 HSGE.

Diem Quynh reveals her results are thanks to a piece of luck that not all students have: she has an older sister who also excels in her studies and who is her most trusted advisor. Her sister helped her choose a career path suited to her strengths and a university that matched her aspirations.

“My older sister Nguyen Phuong Thao is in her fourth year of Business Administration in the On-Site Study-Abroad American Degree Program or ADP at DTU,” Diem Quynh explains. “She also received a full scholarship from the university when she started her studies.”

This most precious gift for the two sisters was a reward for their academic efforts, and it also served as a gift to their parents to ease the family’s financial burdens.

With a passion for tourism and a desire to work in this smoke-free industry to improve her spirit and put her strengths to use, Diem Quynh chose to study the PSU-standard major in Tourism and Hospitality Management, which meets the UNWTO.TedQual accreditation standards.

Ha Thi Le’s dream of becoming a DTU student has come true

Some may know Ha Thi Le from Thanh Hoa for her impressive score of 27.43/30, a score many students can only dream of in the 2024 HSGE, but few know about her challenging journey towards the exam. Thanks to her teachers’ encouragement and her persistent passion for learning, Ha Thi Le eventually found a clear goal: to get a high score in the exam and secure a full scholarship in Multimedia Communications.
