First Time DTU Issues “Certificate of Continuing Medical Education in Diagnosis and Treatment”

Modern dentistry has made significant advancements thanks to the application of advanced digital technology. In the field of Implantology, the development of digital processes has provided practical benefits for both professionals and patients. Recognizing this, on July 12, 2024, DTU, in collaboration with Viet Dang Medical and Dental Equipment Joint Stock Company, organized the seminar “Digitalization in Full-Arch Implant Treatment.” Through this seminar, DTU also issued “Certificates of Continuing Medical Education in Diagnosis and Treatment” (CME) to 50 participants, who are dental specialists from hospitals and private clinics across the country.

DTU has confirmed its leading role in organizing and overseeing the scientific content of the seminar. As a co-organizer, DTU not only ensured the professional quality of the event but also played a crucial role in updating and disseminating the latest knowledge in the field of dentistry. Notably, DTU’s issuance of CME certificates to seminar participants represents a significant step forward and is a key factor in maintaining their professional licenses.

The issuance of continuing education certificates is a mandatory requirement for doctors, nurses, technicians, and pharmacists. To maintain their professional certification, individuals in the healthcare field must continually update and refresh their professional knowledge.

A large number of participants, dental specialists from hospitals and private clinics nationwide, attended the seminar

Speaking at the seminar, Professor Tran Huu Dang, DTU Vice President and Dean of the DTU School of Medicine, said: “Today, DTU is honored to collaborate with Viet Dang Medical and Dental Equipment Joint Stock Company to organize the seminar ‘Digitalization in Full-Arch Implant Treatment.’ Addressing dental and maxillofacial issues is extremely important. With the participation of Professor Byungho Choi - a leading expert in Implantology and currently an Honorary Professor at Wonju College of Medicine and Yonsei University (South Korea) - we believe the seminar will provide participants with valuable opportunities to learn, interact, and share knowledge and experiences.

DTU, established for 30 years, offers training in the field of Health Sciences, including Dentistry. Although this field is relatively new at DTU, we currently have around 1,000 students enrolled and are preparing for our first graduating class. In the training of Dental Medicine, DTU invests significantly in advanced equipment, especially simulation models and dental practice chairs like those found in clinics and hospitals, allowing students to practice Implant procedures directly on models.”

Professor Byungho Choi Sharing New Knowledge on Digitalization in Full-Arch Implant Treatment

“Additionally, our other Health Sciences programs annually attract a large number of talented students. Specifically, in the field of Pharmacy, we offer doctoral programs, with our PhD in Pharmaceutical Management being the highest level of doctoral study in this field in Central Vietnam. According to statistics, more than 95% of our graduates find employment after graduation. This reflects the quality of education provided by the university and contributes to addressing the critical shortage of healthcare professionals.”

In modern dentistry, Implantology plays a crucial role in restoring chewing function and aesthetics for patients with missing teeth. Particularly for cases of multiple tooth loss or complete edentulism, full-arch implant treatments are an optimal solution, providing high and long-lasting results. However, achieving successful treatment requires thorough preparation and a systematic approach. Especially in complex cases, the application of digital processes becomes even more essential. As the main speaker of the seminar, Professor Byungho Choi shared valuable knowledge and information about Implantology and the application of digital techniques in dentistry. Throughout the seminar, Professor Choi focused on educating participants about digitalization in full-arch implant treatment – an optimal and long-lasting solution for dental patients, specifically covering:

•    Essential preparatory steps before surgery: Including checklists and contingency plans for complex situations;
•    Full-arch restoration philosophy with digital processes: From data collection and design to temporary restoration production;
•    Procedures for recording dental and occlusal relationships: Ensuring high accuracy in restoration;
•    The role of passive fit in full-arch implant restoration;
•    Manufacturing full-arch restorations using IOS methods and CAD/CAM technology;
•    Quality control in digital processes.

By successfully organizing the seminar “Digitalization in Full-Arch Implant Treatment” with Viet Dang Medical and Dental Equipment Joint Stock Company, DTU provided dental professionals with an opportunity to enhance their specialized knowledge and exchange experiences with experts and peers in the field of dentistry. The issuance of continuing education certificates by DTU not only helps medical professionals maintain their practice licenses but also ensures they are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills, thereby improving the quality of dental treatment and oral health care for the community.
