Five DTU students are now leaving Vietnam for paid twelve-month internships through the “Japan Internship Program,” in association with the Japan Internship Support Association (JISA), to support the development of education & training at DTU and provide qualified manpower to Japanese companies. The first students are:

- Nguyen Nguyet Trang and Nguyen Duc Hoan, at the Style Care Urawa Motomachi nursing home
- Le Van Quynh, a Cybersecurity (IT) student, at the Agrie company

Another 19 will go to Japan in July, after completing the necessary paperwork. Interns will benefit from:

- Sixteen practice credits on internship completion, related to their fields of study
- Free Japanese language training before and after departure
- Full financial support for application preparation, visa fees, international airfares and accommodation in Japan
- A monthly allowance of 70,000 JPY per month, equivalent to 14 million VND
- Experience in the Japanese culture
- An opportunity for possible full-time employment in Japan after the internship

“I was surprised and happy and surprised when I heard that I’d been accepted for an internship in Japan. The interview was difficult and the number of selected candidates low, so my chances were slim,” confides Nguyen Duc Hoan My, an intern at the Style Care nursing home in Urawa Motomachi. “My major is Nursing and during my four years at DTU, I learned much and refined my skills in the DTU practice rooms and at a nursing home in Vietnam. Thanks to that experience, I passed the interview and have quickly adapted to my new job in Japan.”

Candidates for the Japan Internship Program must meet the following requirements:

- Be a third or fourth year DTU student
- Have reached a Japanese-language level equivalent of N4
- Signed up for the annual Japanese internship recruitment interview

“Our Japan Internship Program has been very successful, with the support of Japanese companies, DTU leadership, faculties and lecturers, all networking with the Vietnam-Japan Institute for Strategic Cooperation,” explained Dr. Le Vinh An, Director of the VJISC. “This program has two advantages, benefiting Japanese companies and DTU students alike. Companies who host the interns are assured of their quality and professionalism after four years of thorough training.”

DTU students excel in their expertise, they are innovative and creative and highly disciplined working in teams, especially in technology & engineering, and in medicine. For example, DTU and VJISC recently signed an agreement with Heisei General Construction to help train Construction students and help them find remunerative employment on a par with their Japanese counterparts there.

This was the first time that the DTU Faculties of Architecture & Applied Arts, and Civil Engineering have signed an MoU for twelve-month internships in Japan directly with Japanese companies, to o begin providing students with broad access to the labor market there.

The Japan Internship Program is a significant step satisfying the educational development and recruitment needs of DTU and business. As a result, the level of the DTU architecture & construction programs will be brought up to international standards, benefitting both the national and overseas labor markets, especially in Japan.
