Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Vice-Provost

 

MBC, established in 1961 and headquartered in Seoul, is one of the largest national television broadcasters in Korea and the producer of several world-famous TV series, including “Dae Jang Geum”, “Jumong”, “Dong Yi”, “Queen Seondeok”, and “The Unstoppable High Kick”, all of which aired in Vietnam and were very popular.Several of the MBC actors and actresseshave since become well-known internationally.

 

Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Provost, and MBC leaders signed the agreement online to allow:

 

- The downloading of a free Korean language learning app, developed by KOKIRI

- Access to online beginner-level lectures

- Textbooks, compiled by MBC staff

- The opportunity to participate in advertising projects and internship recruitment programs 

 

Jointly working to improve the quality of Korean language education at DTU

 

DTU agreed to:

 

- Support MBC in the implementation of the KOKIRI language learning app

- Hold quarterly meetings with lecturers and students to improve the quality of the app

- Provide materials to promote the app,based on their relationship with MBC

 

Students will be able to use the app on mobile phones, study the Korean language easily and be entertained through MBC TV shows at the same time. Episodes will be divided into short 10-minute videos on specific vocabulary, expressions and grammar topics. Students can learn real-life Korean and get to understand the language more efficiently by watching the videos and playing games, such as rearranging sentences. Moreover, the KOKIRI videos have both Vietnamese and English subtitles. The app normally costs $20 per month, but DTU users can access it free of charge.

 

In times of international integration, Vietnamese studentswho can speak a third language have a significant advantage and the new partnershipnow enables DTU students achieve this and find jobs on graduation with any of the many Korean companies currently doing businessin Vietnam.
