Webometrics published their July 2021 rankings of universities worldwide, showing little change since January.

1. Vietnam National University Hanoi, and 959 worldwide
2. Ton Duc Thang University, and 1,302 worldwide
3. Duy Tan University, and 1,470 worldwide
4. VNU University of Technology HCMC, and 1,781 worldwide
5. HCMC University of Industry, from 8th and2,165 worldwide
6. University of Danang, unchanged and2,269 worldwide
7. Hanoi University of Science & Technology, from 5th and 2,434 worldwide
8. Hue University, from 7th and 2,622 worldwide
9. University of Economics HCMC, unchanged and 2,822 worldwide
10. Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, unchanged and 2,967 worldwide
The Vietnam National University HCMC dropped out of the top 10, coming 11th and 3,264 worldwide. Other private universities ranked by Webometrics includedNguyen Tat Thanh University: 37thand 5,681; HUTECH: 43rdand 6,705; FPT: 56thand 8,472; Van Lang University: 58thand 8,950; and Hoa Sen University: 68thand 11,337.
Webometrics Ranking is published twice a year, surveying 31,000 institutions internationally, currently using the following measurement factors:
- Impact or Visibility: (50%): Number of external networks (subnets) linking to the institution's webpages (normalized and then choosing the maximum value).
- Openness or Transparency: (10%): Number of citations from Top 210 authors (excluding the top 20 outliers).
- Excellence: (40%): Number of papers in the top 10% most cited in each one of the 27 defined disciplines.
