Mai Ly studied hard during her high school years, so it did not come as a surprise when she always won the title of Excellent Student and was loved by her friends and teachers. She did well in all subjects, especially in Literature and Math, scoring 9.25 and 9 respectively. Mai Ly proved that she is able to study many subjects at the same time and succeed, with enviable results.

Sharing her key to success in Literature, Mai Ly said: “In believe it’s easier to do something we enjoy. My love of Literature helps me understand what the authors are trying to say. In class, I always listen attentively to the teachers and then make a summary to help me remember. I also research extra information in books, newspapers and online. In the Literature exam, I focused on understanding all the questions in the “Reading Comprehension” section exactly and answered them carefully. For the “Social Discourse” part, I gave convincing and accurate arguments with real evidence. Finally, in “Literature Dissertation”, I concentrated on the main ideas, analyzed them in-depth, adding more evidence, highlighting the differences and similarities to demonstrate my point.”

Her wish to contribute to Hoi An’s tourist development

Mai Ly grew up in the Hoi An Ancient Town, on the banks of the Hoai River. Hoi An was once one of the busiest commercial ports in the region and has now naturally become a famous destination for tourists discovering central Vietnam. As a result, Mai Ly has always wanted to create tour programs to promote Hoi An.

Mai Ly said: “My family has lived in Hoi An for decades. Many years ago, my grandparents had a business renting basket boats for tourists to enjoy the beauty of Bay Mau Coconut Forest. Tourists also like to offer up garlands of flowers, bringing peace as their worries seem to go away. As a child of Hoi An, I have always wanted to work on its development, however, as we welcome more and more international and Vietnamese tourists, Hoi An should be kept well-preserved.”

Immediately she knew her HGE result, Mai Ly enrolled in Tourism and Hospitality Management, part of the American Degree Program in collaboration with Troy University in the US. Talking about her decision to study at DTU, she said: “DTU is famous in central Vietnam for its modern studying facilities and high-quality Tourism & Hospitality major. I learned about DTU from senior students and found out that my English will improve significantly because ADP students are taught solely in English by foreign lecturers. With a full scholarship, I commit to study hard, obtain a US degree and have a successful career.”
