On May 21, the 13th live-streamed enrollment advisory session was broadcast, entitled “Trends in the relocation of foreign manufacturers to Vietnam - Career Opportunities for Electrical Engineering graduates.” Dr. Ha Dac Binh, Dean of DTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering; Dr. Than Hong Phuc, Vice Dean of DTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering; MSc. Ngo Le Minh Tam, Head of Digital System Division; MSc. Vo Minh Thong, Head of Purdue International Program; Mr. Dang Ba Khac Trieu, Executive Director of NTT Data Vietnam Co, Danang branch, attended.

In wake of the intensifying US-China trade war, more and more companies are announcing plans to shift manufacturing from China to other countries, including Vietnam. The Covid-19 pandemic is considered to be another reason why the trend is now emerging. In consequence, there is now a vital need to immediately train highly skilled Vietnamese workers to seize this opportunity.
The first question, related to majors offered by the DTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering, was answered by Dr. Ha Dac Binh, Dean of DTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He said that they include Electrical Automation, Embedded Systems, Telecommunication, Automation, and Control Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, and two international standard majors - PNU Mechatronics and PNU Electrical Engineering, in partnership with Purdue Northwest University.

Emphasizing the differences between the regular and international programs, MSc. Vo Minh Thong, Head of the Purdue International program, said: “Purdue University is one of the leading American universities in Technology and Engineering, including IT, Construction, Mechatronics, and Biotech. DTU has partnered with Purdue University to share their internationally-standardized PNU Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics program and both basic and specialized subjects will be taught using PNU materials. Annually, DTU sends lecturers to Purdue University to improve the quality of education at DTU, and invites lecturers from Purdue Northwest University to DTU to teach. This enables DTU students to improve their English and communication skills.”
Dr. Than Hong Phuc said: “Since most manufacturers aim to diversify their workplaces, there is now a high demand for female engineering professionals. Be confident and enroll in Electrical Engineering if you want to find a good career in that field. High-quality education and foreign language fluency will add to your employability.”
