The 17th Youth Science and Technology conference for Vietnamese medical and pharmacy colleges and universities took place at Vietnam Military Medical University. It was held by Health Ministry and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The conference commemorated Uncle Ho’s 124th birth anniversary, the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory and Vietnam Science and Technology Day. This is the first time DTU has participated in the conference and won one first prize and three third prizes with four scientific research papers.

The conference gave medicine universities and colleges nationwide the opportunities to share their knowledge and experience, including the results of their research. The objective was to encourage students to study harder and to conduct research projects to improve social health-care. 150 medical research topics were presented by 25 Vietnamese universities and colleges.

The three private universities participating in the conference were Duy Tan University, Thang Long University, and the Hanoi and Lac Hong University in Dong Nai province. Among many strong proposals to improve national health-care, four DTU research papers received the high praise regards of the judges and big awards. The topic “A Biological Technology Application to Synthesize Flavonoid Glycosides to Contain Active Medicinal Properties”, authored by Nguyen Huy Thuan won First Prize. Three other topics won third prizes, including “Researching Extraction to Determine the Chemical Composition of Elements from Eugenia Operculata Roxb” by Tran Thu Hien, “Researching the Care of Tracheotomy Patients by Canuyn at the Danang Hospital” by Huynh Thi Tuyet, and “Researching the Changes in Life Quality of Stroke Victims”, by Nguyen Phuong Thao.
Their achievements at the conference demonstrated the strength of strength of the DTU Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine in Vietnam.
