DTU has launched a mission to expand partnerships with national and international universities, with the motto “In order to develop, it is advisable to rely on the giants”.
Duy Tan University (DTU) has set an objective to “educate an internationally recognized and qualified labor force specializing in technology, engineering and economics for the development and modernization of Vietnam. DTU has established a campaign to collaborate with numerous national and international universities, together with investments in new facilities and infrastructure.
Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), one of the top American universities in IT, (according to U.S News and World Report), was the first “giant” to assist DTU in becoming a leader in Information Technology studies in Danang. DTU is collaborating with CMU to offer internationally standardized courses in Software Technology, Information Systems and Network Engineering. This year the first DTU/CMU students will graduate and many of them will be offered careers at IBM, Gameloft, Logigear, EnClave and similar companies.
The two other “giants” that DTU has partnered with are Pennsylvania State University (PSU), in Economics, and California State University in Fullerton (CSU) in Architecture and Engineering. PSU is one of the five top public universities in the US and CSU is known as a leading university on the west coast of the USA.
Thanks to this strategy, DTU students now have more access to modern teaching methods, materials and experimentation. Foreign lecturers are also invited to come to teach at DTU.
On completion of the courses, students will be granted internationally recognized certificates of accomplishment, which can then be used to transfer to an American university in America or another higher education institution. A new collaboration with Appalachian State University allows students to attend DTU for two years and then continue their studies to graduation in America.
Mr. Le Cong Co, the DTU Chairman and Rector said that it was challenging to work with leading American universities because they initially tend to focus heavily on the development and future prospects of their Vietnamese partners for accreditation and it also takes time and money to purchase their original curricula. DTU appreciates these strict requirements, as we know that we have to comply with them in order to steadily improve our standards.
