On September 19, 2025, Elsevier, the world’s leading scientific publisher and data analytics company, released its global ranking of the most influential scientists for 2025. Nine Vietnamese scientists were listed in the top 10,000 most influential scientists globally.
The rankings are based on data compiled by a team of scientists from Stanford University, led by Professor Dr. John P.A. Ioannidis. The scientists are categorized into 22 major fields of study and 174 subfields (disciplines/ specialties), according to Science-Metrix standards.
The ranking criteria include various indicators of influence in the scientific community, such as the total number of citations, the Hirsch h-index, the Schreiber hm-index adjusted for co-authors, the number of citations of papers published as a single author, first author, and last author, and a composite score (c-score).
