This internship program is one of many opportunities that DTU students of Tourism & Aviation Services Management have access to, alongside numerous collaborations the university is undertaking in the aviation sector to provide students with hands-on experience in a professional working environment.

Internship with learning opportunities

Through the connection of MSc Dang Ngoc Trung, Director of the DTU Enrollment Center, these students had the opportunity to intern at Vietnam Airlines, including: Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi, Nguyen Thi Tuong Nhi, Hoang Thi Thanh Truc, Nguyen Ngoc Quan, and Le Do Thien Quan.

As employees of Vietnam Airlines, the students assisted customers with various tasks such as guiding them to scan QR codes, registering for the Lotusmiles membership program, filling out personal information, and explaining the exclusive benefits members can receive.

With a professional working style, the students contributed to providing exciting and attractive experiences for customers.

The connection between the university's staff and faculty members and reputable organizations and businesses has created many valuable opportunities for students to learn and gain experience, while also building strong relationships between the university and businesses. As a result, students not only intern at reliable companies to apply the knowledge they have learned in practice, but also open up many career opportunities for the future.

Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi said: "Participating in the Vietnam Airlines internship program has been an incredibly meaningful and beneficial experience for me. Not only did I have the opportunity to work in a professional environment, but I also developed communication skills, enhanced my confidence, and improved my ability to handle situations and work in teams while assisting customers at the booths. In particular, receiving the Lotusmiles internship certificate from Vietnam Airlines further acknowledges my efforts throughout the program and serves as proof to add to my resume for future job applications."

Studying in South Korea through the exchange semester program

So far, DTU students have participated in two sessions (in 2023 and 2024) of the exchange semester program in collaboration with Chodang University in South Korea.

The students are equipped with specialized knowledge and skills in the aviation field. Specifically, DTU students are exposed to several essential practical training activities, including: practicing in a flight cabin, beverage preparation skills on aircraft, makeup artistry, personal grooming, and communication skills.

Additionally, each student is paired with a South Korean aviation student, who serves as a companion and provides support in solving academic and daily life challenges in South Korea, using both daily English and aviation English.

Participating in this valuable exchange program, student Le Thi Nha Tam shared: "I feel truly fortunate to be part of the exchange semester program at Chodang University, one of the top 3 aviation training schools in South Korea. In addition to the useful knowledge and practical skills gained during the course at Chodang University, we were also granted a 100% tuition fee waiver. Especially, we had the opportunity to practice in a realistic flight simulation cabin. This made the learning experience much more vivid and authentic."

After completing the exchange semester in South Korea, students are awarded 15 credits transferred from Chodang University to DTU, facilitating the completion of their academic program.

This not only helps students stay on track with their study schedule but also opens up the opportunity to experience an international academic environment, enhancing the value of their degree upon graduation.

Multidisciplinary cooperation

One of the significant milestones was the signing of a cooperation agreement between DTU and the Vietnam Aviation Academy on August 2, 2024.

In addition, DTU and the Vietnam Aviation Academy are working together to promote the startup and innovation ecosystem, creating a strong foundation to develop initiatives that contribute to the growth of the aviation industry and related economic fields.

Students will also have access to the latest knowledge and more opportunities to practice and enhance their skills in professional and dynamic environments, preparing them to face new challenges in the aviation industry.
