DTU Students Come Third in the Students with the Hanoi Convention Contest

With in-depth knowledge and a strong passion for cybersecurity research, Nguyen Van Tien, a DTU student of Network Engineering, won Third place in the "Students with the Hanoi Convention" competition on June 30, 2025.


Launched by the National Cybersecurity Association, the contest aimed at raising students' awareness about the "Hanoi Convention", an important international convention on cybercrime prevention, opened for signature in Vietnam for the first time

Nguyen Van Tien secure third place in the competition

 

The Hanoi Convention is the first United Nations document on cybercrime prevention, opened for signing after over 20 years. It marks a significant milestone, creating a new international legal framework with tools to enhance global cooperation in tackling cybercrime. Hanoi was chosen as the venue for the signing of this important document, marking a major turning point in the international community's joint efforts to safeguard Cybersecurity.

 

The contest attracted special attention from the student community with 33,136 entries from 156 universities and colleges.


According to the Organizing Committee, the 5 units with the largest number of participants included: People's Security Academy, DTU, VNU Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. These training institutions are famous for Cybersecurity and Information Security in Vietnam.

All participants were required to study materials about the Hanoi Convention in both video and text formats, then answer 15 online multiple-choice questions related to the contents of the convention and legal issues concerning Cybersecurity. The competition highlighted the participants' proactive learning about the Hanoi Convention and their in-depth knowledge of Cybersecurity. Among them, Nguyen Van Tien was honored to win third place.

 

"Students in IT-related fields not only focus on acquiring specialized knowledge during their studies but also have the spirit of exploring various other related areas to build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, enabling them to confidently step into their professional careers later. Therefore, I am very happy to have participated in this competition and won this meaningful award. This prize further motivates me to continue studying and participate in more competitions to enhance knowledge and skills" Nguyen Van Tien shared.

 

The organizers awarded the following prizes:

 

• First place: Duong Anh Ngoc, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology,
• Second place: Ngan Linh Phuong, People's Security Academy,
• Third place: Nguyen Van Tien, Duy Tan University.


Additionally, 20 Consolation prizes were awarded to other participants from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Water Resources, VNU Hanoi, VNU Ho Chi Minh City, Academy of Cryptography Techniques, FPT University, and others, at the "Students with the Hanoi Convention" 2025 competition.
