On June 12, 2025, at the invitation of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), the DTU Provost paid a visit to, worked, and co-chaired the official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with VASS at their headquarters in Hanoi. The signing ceremony marked an important milestone, opening a new era for the cooperative relationship between the two institutions, especially in the teaching and research of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On the side of the VASS, VASS President Dr. Phan Chi Hieu was accompanied by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh, VASS Vice - President; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang, President of the Institute for European and American Studies; Dr. Nguyen Duy Thuy, President of the Institute of Social Sciences in the Central and Central Highlands regions, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Director of the Academy of Social Sciences; along with other leaders and experts from various departments within VASS.
Representing DTU were DTU Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao; Dr. Do Minh Hoat, Director of the DTU Institute of Theory & Applications Research (ITAR); and other leaders including Professor Dr. Vu Xuan Quang, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu My, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Thi Bich, along with several DTU researchers and staff.
At the ceremony, VASS President Dr. Phan Chi Hieu welcomed the cooperation between the two institutions. The VASS is a government agency responsible for conducting fundamental research on social sciences, providing scientific arguments to the Party and the State in the formulation of policies, strategies, planning, and sustainable development plans for the country in alignment with socialist-oriented economic growth. It also offers policy advice in the field of social science development, as well as trains human resources in social sciences in accordance with legal regulations. With over 1,500 staff members and facilities nationwide, VASS is a pillar of the nation in developing scientific research and postgraduate training in Social Sciences and Humanities. Meanwhile, DTU is a leading institution in Vietnam in terms of scale and the quality of its training, particularly recognized internationally for its achievements in scientific research and innovation.
This is one of the key reasons for the collaboration between the two institutions. Dr. Phan Chi Hieu emphasized that today's ceremony marks a milestone in the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions, reaffirming their shared goal of successfully implementing the Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Sharing the same thoughts, DTU Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao expressed his happiness over the collaboration between the two institutions. He shared the recognition of DTU for the sincere support from many generations of staff at the VASS, which has contributed to the development of the university. Some VASS staff members and former staff, such as Associate Professors Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Associate Professors Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh, Associate Professors Dr. Nguyen Thu My, Associate Professors Dr. Le Bo Linh, Dr. Hoang The Anh, and many other distinguished individuals, have also participated in teaching and organizing annual workshops at DTU, leaving a positive impression on the students and faculty.
He hoped that through this collaboration agreement, DTU would work with the VASS to hold several annual international workshops on key International Relations topics, as well as expand the network of research and teaching collaborations. Moreover, he emphasized the ambition to co-author valuable books or book chapters on social and economic topics both in Vietnam and internationally.

As part of the ceremony, the VASS President and the DTU Provost discussed several other collaborative initiatives for the near future. Based on the signed cooperation agreement, each institution is responsible for the tasks assigned in the spirit of friendly cooperation, aiming to meet the country’s economic and social development goals. This Memorandum of Understanding is effective for 5 years from the signing date. After its expiration, both parties will evaluate the achieved results and discuss the signing of subsequent agreements.
