On November 11, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK education organization, announced its 2024 Asia University Rankings, which highlighted a significant growth in the number of institutions listed, totaling 857 Asian universities, including 148 making their first appearance.
Fifteen Vietnamese institutions were listed and DTU ranked highest in Vietnam, at 115, up 30 places from last year. DTU was closely followed by Ton Duc Thang University at 138, Vietnam National University in Hanoi at 187, and Vietnam National University in HCMC at 220.
Four Vietnamese universities appeared for the first time, including Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the HCMC University of Technology and Education, the University of Transport and Communications, and Van Lang University.

The QS World University Rankings, the THE Rankings, and the Academic Ranking of World Universities, published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China are generally considered to be the most widely observed university rankings worldwide.
Since 2009, the QS Asia University Rankings have highlighted the top universities in Asia using 11 indicators. These include academic reputation, comprising 30% of the total, employer reputation 20%, faculty/student ratio 10%, staff with PhDs 5%, papers per faculty 5%, citations per paper 10%, international research network 10%, the proportion of international faculty 2.5%, and the proportion of international students at 2.5%.
Peking University came in first place for the second year running, followed by the University of Hong Kong and the National University of Singapore (NUS). In Southeast Asia, the University Malaya came 11th.
