Multitalented Freshman Fluent in Five Languages at DTU in 2022

With her total three-subject grade of 28.7/30, Le Khac Anna is admitted to the major of General Practitioner at DTU and is awarded a scholarship by the university. She recently won the Style award at the 2022 Miss Ao Dai Vietnam beauty pageant, is confident is five languages, and is an accomplished singer and pianist.
 
This Generation Z girl showed a lot of artistic talent early on
 
Born in 2004, the Generation Z girl Le Khac Anna grew up in a family with an artistic tradition. Both her parents are passionate singers and instrumentalists who both compose and perform. Her mother is Phuong Phuong and her father is Khac Huy, both well-known and widely liked instrumentalists and singers. Le Khac Anna’s love for music was therefore fostered and nurtured naturally ever since she was little.

Besides playing the piano well, Le Khac Anna possesses a “slightly hoarse” but ever so expressive voice. “During my childhood years, I spent my days with my parents at their rehearsals and the nights at their performances,” Anna explains. “My parents’ shows, both in Vietnam and abroad, left me with unforgettable memories and opened a novel door to a child like me. It could very well be that’s why my love for music and my passion for the limelight gradually grew in me.”
 
While she likes foreign songs, Anna also feels a lot of love for her parents’ compositions. The moments she could play the piano or hold the mic to perform alongside her parents on the stage or when she sang along with her parents at home are priceless to her.
 
“One of the compositions that impressed me most was the song Hon Viet [Vietnamese soul],” Anna says. “It’s a song my mother dedicated to ao dai flaps, a symbol of the pure beauty of Vietnamese women. What I like about it is the youthful and lively melody of the song and I also love the graceful charm of ao dai flaps evoked in it. I’d also like to boast a little about the song Toi yeu Viet Nam [I love Vietnam], which my mother composed as a call to join hands against the Covid-19 pandemic. PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc personally praised it and the press devoted special pieces to it.”
 
Besides singing and playing the piano, Anna is confident on the fashion catwalk. At the 2022 Miss Ao Dai Vietnam beauty pageant, the organizers awarded her the Style prize. The honor will motivate her to continue her efforts to hone her soft skills, to carry on her artistic activities, and to spread positive energy.
 
Passion for languages and fluency in five languages
 
This girl with pretty and cute looks who never gives up to pursue her wishes and who is highly resolved in her studies is furthermore a polyglot. Ever since she was little, Anna’s parents encouraged her to learn English. During her junior high years, she took the initiative to learn some more languages, and she is now fluent in five: English, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese.
 
“With the goal to use the language flexibly for communication, I tend to hunt for opportunities to practice my speaking through many channels,” Anna explains. “On the one hand I actively converse with the teachers, and on the other I regularly chat with exchange students in South Korea and Japan and with Thai friends, to learn how to speak like a native.

Anna won a consolation prize at the 2022 English-French-Chinese-Japanese Debate Competition
 
“At the beginning, you listen to native speaker pronunciation from many different sources without paying attention to meaning,” Anna reveals her secret to study many languages simultaneously well. “The objective of listening without paying attention to meaning is to grow familiar with the phonetics, with how native speakers string sound together, with prosody, rhythm, the rise and fall of sentences… Once you’re familiar with the sound, learning vocabulary or practicing pronunciation and grammar will become a lot easier.”
 
When Anna was 18, her friends at school jocularly called her “the other half’s child”. This is a quick overview of Anna’s recent achievements:
 
? second prize for English at city-level skilled-student contest in 2021–2022,
? consolation prize at the online English Olympiad in 2021,
? consolation prize at the 2022 English–French–Chinese–Japanese Debate Competition,
? many certificates like Cambridge and Japanese,
? 7.0 points for IELTS.
 
Working to realize white-coat dream
 
Le Khac Anna loves studying languages and sings and performs well, but unexpectedly she took a different turn and signed up for the major of General Practitioner at DTU.

Le Khac Anna will continue with her passion for singing, but she is resolved to study to become a medical doctor
 
“Through the press, I discovered that DTU is one of Vietnam’s prestigious universities and that it’s listed by the world’s most prestigious ranking, Times Higher Education,” Anna said on how fate brought her to choose DTU for her studies. “By coincidence, at senior high my classmates and I could experience ‘one day as a university student’ at DTU. I found the infrastructure at the school incredibly modern, the equipment complete, the lecturers cheerful and friendly, and I could observe the wholesome after-hour activities of DTU students. And so I didn’t hesitate to choose for DTU to realize my professional dreams.
 
“I started researching the major of General Practitioner at the start of grade nine and I really liked the work of the ‘white-coats’. Meanwhile, when doing charity work with my mother in poor villages, I saw a lot of the people there suffering from disease but without money for treatment. I told myself I had to study really well to become a good medical doctor, and if I can, I’ll open my own general practice to offer them free treatment.”
 
The dream to don the white coat of the multitalented Le Khac Anna will soon become reality, for she has been admitted for the major of General Practitioner at DTU. Let’s hope this little girl full of talent will have a really beautiful time under the roof of the school she chose for her university life!
