Seventeen Vietnamese universities listed in URAP 2022

The organization University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) has just announced the world’s top 3,002 universities in 2022. Seventeen Vietnamese universities were listed, an increase of 5 compared to December 2021. Accordingly, Ton Duc Thang University climbed 212 places to 427th worldwide and 1st in Vietnam and DTU jumped 343 places to 446th globally and 2nd in Vietnam.
 
Top 10 universities in URAP ranking:  
 
1. Ton Duc Thang University is ranked 427th,
2. Duy Tan University is ranked 446th,
3. The Vietnam National University - HCMC is ranked1013,
4. The Vietnam National University - Hanoi is ranked 1.104th,
5. The Hanoi Medical University is ranked 1235th,
6. Hanoi University of Science and Technology is ranked 1379th,
7. Nguyen Tat Thanh University is ranked 1526th,
8. Hue University is ranked 2178th,
9. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is ranked 2203rd,
10. Can Tho University is ranked 2291st.

The Vietnam National University of Agriculture dropped out of the top 10 and was replaced by HCM City University of Technology at number 2.203 worldwide and 9th in Vietnam.
 
The five new universities entering the 2022 ranking are: 
 
- Thai Nguyen University, 11th in Vietnam and 2516th worldwide,
- HCM City University of Technology, 12th in Vietnam and 2543rd worldwide, 
- HCM City University of Industry, 15th in Vietnam and 2665th worldwide, 
- HCM City University of Technology and Education, 16th in Vietnam and 2798th worldwide
- Thuy Loi University, 17th in Vietnam and 2890th worldwide.
 
Ton Duc Thang University and DTU are named in the global Top 500. The VNU in HCMC, the VNU in Hanoi, the Hanoi Medical University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Nguyen Tat Thanh University are ranked in the range from 1000 to 2000.
 
Thai Nguyen University, HCM City University of Technology, HCM City University of Industry, HCM City University of Technology and Education, Thuy Loi University, Hue University, and Can Tho University are ranked in the range from 2000 to 3000.

In Southeast Asia, Malaysia leads the group with 31 institutions, with Malaya University in the top 300, followed by Thailand with 21, Vietnam with 17, the Philippines with 6 and Brunei with 2. Singapore has 7 universities in  the ranking, two of which are in the top 100 worldwide: the National University of Singapore (at 27) and Nanyang Technological University (60th).
 
URAP uses data from the Web of Science for ranking. The criteria measured are quantity and quality of scientific publications, the citation index and scientific impact, which are the main weightings in the assessment process. URAP works independently, without recourse to self-reporting by universities or through expert voting, and is becoming well-known for its objectivity.
