Graphic Design, Fashion Design: Good Income in Trendy Fields

To provide human resources to currently hot fields of vital importance to making the world more beautiful, DTU enrolls for Graphic Design and for Fashion Design. These majors offer noteworthy strengths concerning training programs and infrastructure for practice.

Graphic Design: attractive major in the era of digital technology and social networking
 
The dizzying increase in remuneration in this field the last several years has made many people highly interested. According to VietnamSalary, salaries in graphic design showed a clear increase of up to 125% in the three years from 2018 to 2021. A high salary in 2018 would have been 15 million VND per month, while in 2021 this more than doubled to 33.8 million VND per month.
 
Despite the worldwide economic turmoil caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, graphic design remains in the top of fields with highest incomes. Income data and the rise in salaries show graphic design is a “trade of current times”.
 
The number of businesses operating in advertising in Vietnam has gone up into the thousands and every day new types of advertisement appear in the mass media.
 
With this explosion of multimedia, graphic design is more important than ever. As a result, fields related to graphic design - photography, creative direction, art direction, computer/phone game and graphics development… - bloom, offering even more opportunities for students of this major.
 
One of the main supports of graphic design is information technology.
 
DTU is the right place to study this hot major, as the university is exceptionally strong in the training of IT: it is a leader in Central Vietnam and it received ABET accreditation - the American “gold standard”.
 
Students of Graphic Design at DTU can furthermore practice right at the Silver Swallows Studio (SSS) with a projection room equipped with large screen, a film recording studio, a sound studio, and the most advanced technology and software: Pro Tools, 3ds Max, 3D Maya, ZBrush, etc.
 
From there, unending opportunities open up and students can use new technologies for 2D and 3D design, cinematography, interactive graphics, and so on.

DTU’s Graphic Design curriculum is based on the Singapore Polytechnic major in Industrial Arts Design & Media Education. Students of the major are provided knowledge from basic to advanced in graphic design: typography, brand identity, design of print publications, advertising, graphic photography, packaging, web & application design, game technology, etc.
 
Thanks to this environment, DTU lecturers and students of Graphic Design won many valuable prizes:
 
- Nguyen Khanh Hien won the prestigious American Graphic Design Awards 2021 cup with the perfume logo “O bai”.
- Nguyen Thi Thuy Tram ended in the top 100 of most outstanding products at the American Graphic Design Awards 2020 with the logo “Anna underwear boutique”.
- Nguyen Le Hoang, graphic designer of “White Cliffs”, became 2020 April winner of Fox’s Got Talent by Fox Renderfarm.
- Huynh Van Quy won the favorite logo prize at the Logo20 Online exhibition.
- Nguyen Thi Kieu Tien won a first prize in graphic design at the Danang Skills Competition and a consolation prize at the National Skills Competition in Hanoi in 2014.
- Nguyen Phan Anh Tuan won a third prize in graphic design at the 2014 Danang Skills Competition.
 
More opportunities than ever
 
Due to increasing living standards, there are more opportunities than ever in fashion, especially with the huge changes in shopping habits brought about by the digital era: demanding ease and convenience to obtain impressive fashion products, even though they are located a world away.
 
At DTU, students of Fashion Design are taught professional knowledge and skills from basic to advanced.
 
In particular, students are provided knowledge of esthetics, fine arts, art studies, and textile materials besides skills to draw sewing patterns, use sewing machines and equipment, cut fabric, sew, and remain up-to-date with the latest trends in materials, colors, and sewing techniques.

Innovative fashion starts in the DTU workshops
 
With a team of lecturers consisting of committed and highly experienced fashion experts and prestigious lecturers invited from famous training institutions and businesses in fashion in Vietnam and abroad, students of Fashion Design at DTU obtain a better orientation concerning narrow subfields based on each person’s potential.
 
Besides minor-related subjects like textile materials, sample sketching, 2D & 3D pattern design, cutting fabric, sewing and decoration, clothing application graphics, and organizing fashion shows, students of Fashion Design at DTU master and are able to apply their professional knowledge.
 
This allows them to search for, create, and develop ideas or put themselves up-to-date with the latest fashion trends to work in a professional design environment in Vietnam or in any other country in the world.
 
With the teaching of long-time experts in fashion design, students are furthermore trained through the creation of a fashion product: from sketching ideas and choosing materials to cutting fabric, sewing, and designing accessories, towards quality management and brand management.
 
It is foreseen that recruitment demand in fashion will continue increasing. With their mastery of fashion design and their understanding of customer tastes, DTU graduates in Fashion Design can work as : 
 
- fashion editor for magazines,
- stylist for individuals or brands,
- independent fashion designer,
- fashion researcher for businesses, research centers, and fashion trend forecasts.
