Bui Thi Xuan Nuong, from Quang Nam, scored 26.2 points in the 2020 High School Graduation Exam, with 9.25 in Literature. Nguyen Van Tuan scored 27.25, with 9.25 in Geography, with a passion for Social Science. Both students were directly admitted by DTU and Tuan enrolled in the advanced PSU Tourism & Travel Management partnership program, with a full scholarship. Pennsylvania State University is one of the top universities in Hospitality Management studies in the US.
Always learning proactively
During 3 years of senior high school, Tuan’s self-discipline and hard work yielded excellent results. He was also awarded a bronze medal in the History Olympiad for 11th grade students and third prize in History for 12th graders. Tuan’s secret of success in Social Science studies is his diligence, a full understanding of his classwork, supplemented by independently practicing complex exercises online to broaden his knowledge.

Tuan explained: “After class, I often watch online lectures at home to learn and memorize more by extra in-depth investigation, to conserve time, expand my self-awareness and advance my studies. Geography and History are normally associated with memorizing disconnected dates, names and places, so I always jot down the dates of events chronologically. I plan a reasonable study schedule, without putting too much pressure on myself.”
Pursuing his ambition of becoming a tour guide
Tuan has always longed to become a tour guide, so that he can visit his dream destinations all over the globe. That is why he enrolled in DTU-PSU Tourism and Travel Management as soon as he received his HSGE score.

Tuan said: “I researched information about the advanced international programs on the DTU admissions page and from senior students. I believe that the renowned DTU partnerships with leading Tourism universities in the US will equip me with the professional knowledge and skills for my future career. Working in Hospitality can be incredibly rewarding, but very demanding. For a successful career in Hospitality, we need to prepare ourselves by travelling, the most enriching way to learn more about life. Whether it’s the people we meet or the things we see, traveling provides valuable lessons, because instead of being told something second-hand, we actually experience it ourselves. I hope that the high-quality DTU Tourism and Travel Management program will help me broaden my future career options.”
