The education of highly qualified professionals is imperative in researching solutions to the environmental issues we face and raising public awareness. DTU has made sustained efforts to enhance the quality of education to graduate specialists to tackle the problems and help preserve our green environment.

Study environmental sciences to protect our homeland

DTU Environmental Science students learn, from basic to advanced levels, how to manage natural resources, such as minerals, forests, soil, water and air. They are taught how to assess environmental impact, to analyze and propose solutions to pollution problems and develop technological solutions to the treatment of pollution of all types, including solid, liquid and gaseous waste. In addition, a key component of the curriculum is to learn about laws and policies concerning resources and the environment, to guarantee that graduates are well prepared for their future careers.

DTU assembled a team of experts, including six PhDs and fifteen post-graduates from major universities in France, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands and Belgium, and from established Vietnamese universities. The university also takes advantage of the advanced and proactive CDIO teaching method. Practical sessions involving real-world issues allow students to assimilate, optimize their knowledge and acquire many of the vital skills necessary to work in an environmental engineering workplace.

This dynamic CDIO method has produced several well-educated, skilled and creative students, who have been awarded significant prizes in the field of Environmental and Chemical Engineering.

Practice in the field, close to reality

DTU Environmental majors are unique because they are taken out into the field to conduct practical research and are able to gain a clearer understanding of specialized environments, allowing them to come up with solutions to specific problems.

“As an example, the general public started pressing for solutions after the Formosa Company polluted coastal areas of Central Vietnam. The Faculty then investigated the quality of the maritime environment,” explained Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Dean of Environmental and Chemical Engineering. “We are also researching several other serious environmental issues in Danang and surrounding provinces, such as subsidence, beach erosion, and ground water extraction, undertaken by lecturers and students of Environmental Technology & Engineering, and Natural Resources & Environmental Management.”
