Danang is known for beautiful beaches and spectacular scenery, which attracts a large number of domestic and foreign visitors every year. With the growth of accommodation and tourism services, the demand for qualified workers in an eco-friendly industry has skyrocketed and the DTU Tourism major is the top choice now.
A severe Tourism workforce shortage
According to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, over 2 million staff are required by 2020, but there are only 1.3 million now. 42 % of those are fully trained, 38% transferred from other majors and the remaining 20% are still untrained.
DTU partners with well-known universities worldwide to improve education quality
In 2017, Danang welcomed 6.6 million visitors, an increase of 19% over the previous year. The city has focused on developing infrastructure and tourism services, and urgently needs more workers.
International academic programs and standard hotel practice rooms
DTU collaborates with other universities, including Pennsylvania State University (PSU), one of the leading universities in Tourism & Hospitality in America.

DTU also invites foreign lecturers to teach here and has already sent 70% of the Tourism and Hospitality faculty to PSU for further training. The PSU Tourism and Hotel Management, PSU Tourism and Restaurant Management and PSU Tourism and Hospitality Management programs award 18-24 international-standard certificates. Students are taught by foreign lecturers in English and take exams in English, to hone their language and practical skills. They can meanwhile gain work experience at three-star hotels, such as 59 Ha Bong and Epin Hotel at 733 Nguyen Tat Thanh.
Paid internships
DTU students are highly regarded by local resorts, hotels, restaurants and travel agencies, including the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the Four Seasons, the Nam Hai, the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa, Saigontourist and Vitours, who all pay interns for their work.
DTU interns also work at the Vinpearl Phu Quoc, including first-year students Le Nho Duong and Ngo Hong Thuy Chieu. Others work in Thailand, Huynh Minh Tuyen at the Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park and Pham Vu Phong at Le Meridien Chiang Mai Hotel.
In 2018, DTU will award the following scholarships to Hospitality and Tourism applicants:
