Significant Achievements and New Policies in 2018 Enrolment

The Duy Tan Dream is to become one of the top 300 Asian universities and, during 2017, DTU has been striving to achieve new heights through the enthusiasm and dedication of its lecturers and students. Entering 2018 with new aspirations, innovative policies on scholarships and enrollment options have been announced, along with the introduction of several new majors, in order to provide applicants with surer and easier ways of enrolling.

Research Achievements

In 2017, the quantity of international papers published by DTU researchers hit an impressive milestone, with 340 ISI papers, 12 Scopus and 13 others. On average, DTU published one paper a day, a difficult achievement for either a public or private university, affirming improvements in developmental strategy and the continuing efforts of the researchers to excel even more.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc awards first prize to the DTU 3D Virtual Reality Project

DTU researchers continue to win recognition for their impressive projects. At the Vietnam Talent Awards in 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc awarded first prize in IT category to the project entitled: “Using 3D Virtual Reality Technology to Simulate the Human body for Health Science Education and Research”, developed jointly by Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, Le Van Chung, Trinh Hiep Hoa, Le Khac Trieu Hung, Nguyen Luong Tho, Nguyen Minh Duc and Le Hoang Quoc Bao. 

In addition, Dr. Vo Nguyen Son from Duy Tan University and Dr. Duong Quang Trung from Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, were awarded the 2017 Newton Prize of Vietnam, worth £200,000, with their project entitled: “Building a Foundation for Sustainable Development: Networked Societies for the Cities of Tomorrow”.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Chu Ngoc Anh, congratulated Associate Professor Nguyen Quang Hung and his research associates for their history-making paper published in 2017 in the prestigious Physical Review Letters. Associate Professor Hung was one of nine people selected to serve on the Physics Committee, from 2018 to 2020. 

Many new majors offered 

DTU has become the ideal environment for aspiring new students, including those from abroad, by adapting its curricula to meet the practical requirements of the current workplace and focusing on advanced international and On-Site Study-Abroad programs. This year, DTU continues to offer the most popular majors, including IT, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Economics, Administration, Finance and Banking, Hospitality, Medical Practitioner, Pharmacology, General Nursing, Literature and Journalism, Mass Communications and Economic Law.  

In 2018 DTU will offer new majors in: 

•      Embedded Systems
•      Law
•      Odonto-stomatology   
•      Large Database & Machine Learning
•      Chinese language

These current and future key majors will certainly require high-quality lecturers and students. The use of smart devices, mobile phones, self-driving cars, UAVs, industrial robots is on the rise in all fields, in work and recreation, so the Embedded Systems major will become of prime importance.

The Large Database & Machine Learning major is also in great demand, as companies realize the huge benefits of their staff understanding how to exploit and analyze vast amounts of information. The Health Care and Orthodontics majors are also attracting more attention due to the rising income and living standards in Vietnam. Also, the Chinese and Law majors will become critical new majors, due to recent critical changes in economic development and international cooperation, as well as the requirement to ensure the security of people’s lives and business assets.

94% of DTU graduates find jobs  

There are currently twenty thousand DTU students. Graduates find jobs every year, both locally and nationwide, and recognize all the hard work lying ahead of them. Meanwhile, the university leadership and lecturers are delighted that 94% of them have found jobs over the past two years. This has resulted from newly standardized curricula, higher-quality lecturers and successful business partnerships throughout, allowing companies to hire graduates without spending extra time and money on retraining.

The annual DTU Jobs Fair attracts hundreds of companies, including Enclave, Work West, LogiGear, Microsoft Vietnam, Gameloft, the Code Engine Studio, the VPBank, AVN Vietnam, VACPA, the Nam Hai Resort, the InterContinental, Marriott International and others, introducing students to businesses and allowing them to match jobs to their interests and capabilities. 

International awards 

DTU has won several major awards in national and international competitions, including the 2013 CDIO Academy Winner’s Cup, and first and second prizes in the 2013 CDIO Academy competition held at Harvard University and MIT. Also, Le Dinh Nhat Khanh, a DTU International School student, was a member of the winning team at the 2017 CDIO Academy, held at the University of Calgary in Canada.

DTU won the 2017 Champion’s Cup at the Go Green City, first prize at the 2017 Microsoft Imagine Cup, and firsts in the 2017 e-Firework contest and the 2017 Central Vietnam Information Security championship. 

2,400 scholarships, worth a total of 15 billion vnd

In 2018, scholarships totaling 15 billion vnd will be offered, including 120 new Talent Scholarships, with 10 full and 10 partial scholarships per major, totaling six billion.  Talent Scholarships will be awarded to those who enroll in:
• Large Database & Machine Learning
• Vietnamese Studies
• English
• Business Administration
• Accounting 
• Economic Law 

In 2018, DTU will offer twenty full and partial scholarships, worth over 800 million vnd each, to the leading enrollees in the On-Site Study-Abroad program, qualifying for Troy University and Keuka College degrees on graduation. Successful applicants will be eligible to win one of three full scholarships, covering 100% of the two final years of tuition of the On-Site Study-Abroad Troy University program.

In 2018, DTU will offer two alternative ways of applying:

(1) Based on their 2018 National High School Examination score 
(2) Based on their 12th grade high school record
