More and more DTU students graduated early this year, mostly with honors degrees and, with the support of the university, now have more time to look for suitable jobs. In 2017, there were twenty.
Acting Vice Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee Mr Dang Viet Dung awarded and congratulated graduates for their outstanding achievements
“Students graduate early from a variety of majors, especially Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, and Civil and Industrial construction,” said Dr. Nguyen Phi Son, Director of the Center for Graduate and Postgraduate Training. “Most graduate from six months to one year early, normally with excellent academic results.”
One of those is Nguyen Xuan Thach Thao, from the K20QTM class of Business Administration & Marketing scored 3.62 and was awarded her degree on June 4th. “I did my best, with strong support and encouragement from my academic advisors, who helped me with time management.”
According to surveys, most of these early graduates have already found good jobs. Phan Huynh Hao, is now employed at Gia Hoan Vu Technology Development, Tran Doan Tra My by the Gioi Tron SM, Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly at Viettel and many others with lower qualifications, who found jobs in Construction, Architecture, Hospitality, Accounting, Management and so on.
Tra My explained that “Gioi Tron SM is a software design company where I was accepted immediately. Companies often prefer to hire early graduates rather than those graduating on schedule with higher honors because the early ones are certainly motivated and hard-working and able to plan better, which is good for rapid business development. These students had the flexibility to shorten their study time while quickly absorbing specialized knowledge and soft skills and confidently solving problems, qualities that businesses are looking for nowadays.”
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said: “Moving from a year-based to a credit-based model in 2007, DTU created the opportunity for students to study according to own capabilities and needs. The majority of the early DTU graduates at DTU are healthy and study well. To provide them with the best support, the university created an academic advisory team, which assesses their individual abilities and provide them with appropriate advice and support. DTU students pay tuition for 16 credits per term but it is possible to study for up to 19 or 21 credits per term and graduate early, with the free extra credits. DTU always strives to create the most favorable environment for students to study according to their personal strengths and has received much positive feedback from students who graduated early and quickly grasped the careers awaiting them.”
