The DTU 2016-2017 Academic Year Opening Ceremony to Welcome K22 students

On September 26th, DTU held the 2016-2017 Academic Year Opening Ceremony to welcome K22 students at Trung Vuong Theatre in Danang. There were several exciting activities, including scholarship awards, musical performances, a catwalk and dancing.

Distinguished Teacher, Hero of Labor Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, said: “We are delighted to welcome K22 students to DTU today. Over the past twenty two years, DTU lecturers and students have overcome numerous obstacles and challenges on the road to building our renowned university. Meanwhile, Educators must improve their teaching quality to keep pace with the rapid economic, political and social changes worldwide. My main concern is to discover the best way to graduate self-confident and creative students, proactive in study and research techniques, so that they are prepared to contribute to the development of our country and become global citizens. I hope you will all work hard to perfect yourselves. You should “Learn to know, learn to understand, learn how to get on well with others and learn how to exploit your talents.”  

  
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co awards a full scholarship to Huynh Tan Dung

The ceremony commemorated DTU’s 22nd anniversary, which begins a new stage in the evolution of a truly multi-disciplined university. DTU continues to partner with well-known universities in the US, the UK, Singapore and elsewhere to offer advanced academic, Study-Abroad and On-Site Study-Abroad programs. In addition, DTU has adopted a more open policy to attract talented PhD Professors and Associate Professors, to establish a team of experienced lecturers and researchers to enhance the quality of education at DTU.  

DTU awarded a Certificate of Merit, a laptop and a full scholarship to K22 Valedictorian Huynh Tan Dung, who enrolled in the CMU Software Engineering Advanced program, in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University in the USA. Fourteen other outstanding new students were granted awards and Certificates of Merit. Students of the On-Site Study-Abroad program with high entrance scores received full and partial scholarships worth 480 million vnd and 240 million vnd each, respectively. 

The DTU Board of Provosts also awarded Certificates of Merit and awards to students who had won prizes in national and international competitions. Ton That Binh, champion of the CDIO Academy in 2016, Nguyen Cong Duc and Huynh Minh Trang, national champion and ASEAN runner-up in the Go-Green- In-the-City 2016 contest, the ISIT-DTU team and two students from the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted all received awards. 

Huynh Tan Dung, the K22 DTU Valedictorian, was happy to receive a full scholarship and said: “I chose DTU for its high quality education and modern, dynamic environment. I will work hard in my studies and research to realize my dreams and contribute to the development of the university.”

Thousands of enthusiastic students took part in various artistic activities and enjoyed Flash Mob and Fresh Zumba dancing, exciting Cosplay catwalk and Karate performances and others. The ceremony left a long-lasting impression on all the new students at the beginning of their first academic year.
