On August 26th, DTU held a closing ceremony for the English for Shipbuilding course at the Song Thu Corporation, with Colonel Bui Hoang Hai, Deputy Director of the Song Thu Corporation, Ms. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice-Provost and staff from DTU and the Song Thu Corporation in attendance.

The course lasted for three months, from May 4th to August 12th, with 116 students. Based on preliminary test results, students were divided into two groups, Basic and Advanced English. At the end of the course, they were able to communicate in English with foreign visitors and co-workers, write a short paragraph, and read and understand technical drawings in English.

Nguyen Xuan Trung said: “English plays an important role in the shipbuilding industry today. We have become more confident using English every day, both in our jobs and daily lives. We hope that DTU will provide more high-quality courses to improve our English and job performance in the near future.”
DTU awarded Certificates of Completion to 93 out of 116 students. Seven rated excellent, 29 good and 45 fair. The success of the course highlighted the strong business partnership between DTU and the Song Thu Corporation. It also proved the effectiveness of collaboration between educational institutions and government agencies, businesses and vocational associations in order to provide a highly-qualified workforce, tailored to local business requirements.
