The 2016 ASEAN Students Conference Opens at DTU

The “P2A-ASEAN in One 2016” Conference opened at Duy Tan University in Da Nang on August 12. Over 100 lecturers and students from ASEAN countries attended, together with lecturers and students from universities and colleges throughout Vietnam.

The conference presents opportunities for the participants to discuss regional issues of education, employment, and environment and to share experience in studying and researching. At the plenary session of the Conference, students discussed three main topics: the Ideal ASEAN Learning Environment; ASEAN Workforce Standards; and the Power of Youth in shaping the environment, development and sustainability of ASEAN.

Mr. Jeroen Schedler, Chief Executive of the P2A Permanent Council, affirmed that the conference helped bringing ASEAN students together to understand each other and forge friendships.   

During the three days of the conference, students also participated in meetings with businesses, to learn about the Education and International Student Exchange Linking program and about the International Training program. Participants established an ASEAN largest map with the ten ASEAN flags, together with entertaining bubbles and LEDs.

Vu Ngoc Duc, a student of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh city, said: “My responsibility is to present the cultural values of Vietnam to foreign students and to learn more knowledge and skills from them. Through the plenary session of the Conference, I hope ASEAN students will understand and respect others, give many constructive ideas to overcome shortcomings and broaden study and job opportunities”.
