Many outstanding students with high entry scores in the 2015 - 2016 school year chose to study at Duy Tan University. They were also already winners of provincial and national competitions and, as a result, received full DTU scholarships of 800 million dong. The average entry score in 2015 was 17.6, 1.8 higher than the year before, with 814 students scoring over 20.
DTU Valedictorians and students receive full DTU scholarships
At the completion of their first semester, some DTU Valedictorians talk about why they chose to study at one of the top universities in Central region, the quality of education and their dreams of future careers.
Nguyen Ngoc Thuyen grew up in the Tam Quan District of Binh Dinh Province, home of the coconut. A Tour Management and Operations Valedictorian with a score of 26.30, she is now acclimatized to the different pace of life here. Some popular products made in Tam Quan are sold in Vietnam or exported. However, local suppliers have failed to find markets for their products. Ngoc Thuyen has dreamed for a long time now of promoting these products and locating markets and investors.
She said: “I have spent much time researching the DTU programs and was surprised at the advanced teaching methods and exchange programs where students can do internships at well-known resorts, hotels, companies and so on. DTU is collaborating with Pennsylvania State University, one of top forty American universities in Business Management and in the top five in Tourism & Hospitality, to share its advanced curricula. This has proved to be a successful investment in the standard of education at the university.”
Nguyen Thi Khanh Huyen, an Economic Law Valedictorian with 25.75, was quite confident entering the new Economic Law program. She has been an exceptional student for many years and won second prize in a provincial Geography competition at high school.
In 2015, DTU first offered the On-Site Study-Abroad program, in conjunction with Upper Iowa University in the USA. Twenty-nine students enrolling in UIU’s On-Site Study-Abroad program received full scholarships worth 800 million dong. One of them came second in the national entry competition and the others scored 24 or above. Vu Thi Uy, with 26, chose to study Business Management. She won a consolation prize in Chemistry in a provincial competition in the 12th form. She wants to work in international business, so she came to DTU to make her dream of travelling abroad come true.
Tran Cong Minh scored 26 in Group A. His father is a disabled veteran and his mother is a farmer. They strived to save money to send their children to university. When he heard about UIU’s On-Site Study-Abroad program at DTU, he decided to enroll in the Information Technology program lighten the burden of tuition for his parents and study for an appropriate qualification.
Cong Minh said: “I don’t need to travel to America to study. By enrolling in the UIU On-Site Study-Abroad program at DTU, I can study for four years and receive an American degree from UIU, approved by the North Central Region American accreditation system. We are taught solely in English, with over 60% of the lecturers from UIU and the remainder from Vietnam or abroad. This is a great opportunity for Vietnamese students who want to study an international program at home.”
Duy Tan University has become the ideal destination for thousands of qualified, enthusiastic, community-minded students. More and more candidates have won awards in national competitions and enrolled with high entry scores, which bodes well for the future 2016 - 2017 enrollment.
