The DTU Microsoft Azure Developer Camp and Xamarin Training Course

On September 24th, the DTU Microsoft Innovation Center, in conjunction with Microsoft Vietnam, ran a Microsoft Azure developer camp and Xamarin training course. Attendees included Mr. Francis Nguyen Tuan Anh, Microsoft Manager of Platform and Developer Engagement, Mr. Huynh Bao Toan, a Microsoft Vietnam technician, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hieu, chief of technology at the Saigon High-Tech Park (SHTP), IT developers from Danang, management and staff from the Microsoft Innovation Center and students from universities and colleges in the Central region.

Mr. Francis Nguyen Tuan Anh addresses the training course

Mr. Anh said: “We are delighted to provide IT enthusiasts with the Microsoft Azure developer camp and Xamarin training course, which is the first such training course provided by Microsoft Vietnam. Since the DTU Microsoft Innovation Center came into operation, we have brought the latest Microsoft technology to the Central region. In Asia, Vietnam runs more than 60% of software applications on popular platforms such as IOS, Android and Windows phone. This has driven us to develop Microsoft Azure, an open, flexible, cloud platform that enables users to quickly build, deploy and manage applications across a global network of Microsoft-managed data centers. We expect, in collaboration with DTU, to soon develop and provide more applications for Microsoft users.”

Experts from Microsoft and the Saigon High-Tech Park taught students how to use the new Microsoft Azure features and services, including Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines, Websites and Visual Studio 2013 and learn more about Xamarin, the world-class development tool for cross-platform mobile applications.

Specialists and students attend the course

Tran Anh Tai, a DTU K20 IT student, said: “It was a very useful and informative training course for first year students, which provided us with good direction. We also were able to experiment with the latest software, which helped us link our theory to practice.”

The training courses were one of the collaborations of the DTU Microsoft Innovation Center and Microsoft Vietnam, which has motivated DTU to hold many more suitable training courses for students in the future.
