Along
with the strong development of the Internet, network security issues have been top
priority. To find network security solutions, many competitions, both national
and international have been held in recent years. Since 2008, the Student
Information Security Contest has become a way of enhancing public awareness of
proper security and accelerating appropriate solutions.
In
the preliminary round of the 2013 Student with Information Security Contest for
universities and colleges in the South of Vietnam, DTU teams were impressive. They
won one second-place and one third-place prize and entered the National Finals,
to be held at the Postal and Telecommunications Institute of Technology in Ho
Chi Minh City on November 13th

Originating
in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the 2013 Students Information Security Contest
comprised forty-seven teams from twenty-five universities and institutes of technology
nationwide.
After
a dramatic day of competition with twenty-eight teams from fourteen universities,
the DTU ISIT1 team came second and the DTU ISIT2 team third. With this result, the
DTU ISIT1 team now enters the National Finals with five other outstanding teams,
including the BK-F4P and NAVI teams from the Ho Chi Minh City University of
Technology, the BK-Knights from the Hanoi University of Engineering and Technology, InfoSec from Ky Thuat Mat Ma and K55-MIX from Hanoi National University.

Mr.
Nguyen Kim Tuan, a DTU IT lecturer, said: “As
the only private university to enter the finals, DTU has demonstrated its competence
in this big competition. In the 2012 contest, DTU students came second of the
seven finalists, while this year the teams won second and third places. The
2013 contest was test was based on international standards, which provided an interesting
challenge for those who are interested in network security.”
Le
Huu Thien, a student of K16TMT-DTU IT class said: “DTU IT lecturers have dedicated themselves to supporting us during
our study and preparation for the contest. We have performed very well, thanks
to the education we have received at DTU and I was happy to participate. It has
provided me a lot of experience, helped improve our teamwork skills and fostered
our ambitions to begin network security research projects.”
The
2013 Students Information Security Contest is an important way of promoting the
study and research of network security and of improving our awareness about
information security, so that we can contribute to the development of better
information security systems in Vietnam.
