In order to encourage the spirit of cooperation amongst DTU’s faculty and staff, a meeting was held on May 16th 2009 by the DTU Personnel Department, in conjunction with the Labour Union, to discuss and exchange ideas on the process of studying for PhD degrees.
Attending the discussions were Mr. Le Cong Co, the DTU President and Acting Rector, Dr.Vo Thanh Hai, the Vice Rector, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, the Chairman of the DTU Labour Union, along with many graduates of DTU.
The postgraduates pointed out the many advantages as well as the disadvantages of the PhD study process. They also exchanged ideas on how PhD papers could be developed most effectively. Mr. Vo Thanh Hai, who had successfully defended his thesis, said that: “Completing a PhD thesis is a really hard process, so graduates should make a very detailed plan, and keep in close contact with their supervisors”. He also expressed his gratitude to the university’s leaders who had provided him with the encouragement and support to help to succeed.
On behalf of the university, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh presented flowers and congratulated Mr. Hai on the successful defense of his PhD thesis and also gave gifts to other graduates.
At the end of the talk, Mr.Le Cong Co said, “I am very happy that the number of graduates is on the rise and that the university is willing to create the best conditions for students, faculty and staff.”
The meeting showed the lengths to which the leadership of DTU will go to encourage graduate students in their work.
