Professor Bing-Jean Lee received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from National Cheng Kung University in 1982, M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1984, PhD degree in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991. During the time from 1991 to 1994, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of California, San Diego. Currently, he is a professor and the President of Feng Chia University (FCU), which is recognized as the best private university in Taiwan. Before that position, he was Vice President of FCU, Chairman of Department of Civil Engineering, Dean of College of Construction and Development as well as Dean of Office of Academic Affairs. He is also the principle investigator of debris flow monitoring system project of Soil Water Conservation Bureau, Taiwan. His research interests include mechanics of materials, earthquake engineering and disaster monitoring system
