The organizers evaluated the projects making it to this year’s final round as having good quality, creative ideas, and high practical applicability. Almost all students participating in the contest had foundational knowledge of business activities, good teamwork skills, dynamism, and ability to take in opinions from their predecessors. In addition to these strengths, these youths were still limited in their ability to do market analysis and in their presentation and persuasion skills.

After the eight teams gave their presentations, the organizers selected the three most outstanding projects for prizes. A second prize fell to the Energy Loop team (class K21EVT1 at DTU) with their project “Recovering energy from motorbike brakes” and two third prizes went to “Danang student room brokerage center” by Nguyen Nhat Nam (class K23DLL4, DTU Faculty of Hospitality) and “IPSY” by Luu Duong Duc Phuc (class K15 CTL, Faculty of Educational Psychology, University of Education, University of Danang).

Previously, the Startup Center held regular activities in the framework of the contest, supporting students to research and present their product. Furthermore, experienced businesspeople and experts shared many lessons on product strategy, services strategy, pricing, and distribution in the “Startup Stories” talk shows.

The “DTU Startup 2018” contest is a good opportunity for students to come up with new projects full with breakthrough ideas, to discover their limitations and to find solutions to overcome them, all while acquiring valuable experience from successful startups.
