The 4 “Building a Bridge Across the Milky Way” Competition at DTU

The fourth “Building a Bridge across the Milky Way” competition was held at DTU on April 15th. Participants came from high schools and universities in Danang and Quang Nam and demonstrated their creativity and learning abilities with experts in the Architecture and Construction.

Contestants

Using wooden chopsticks and glue, contestants had only 3 hours to design model bridges able to carry up to 15 kilos. Projects were judged on design, loading capacity and forecast.

Dr. Nguyen The Duong, Dean of Construction said: “This year, the design of the model bridges is more aesthetic and useful. The large number of entrants confirms the strong interest of our students in the increasing quality and prestige of the competition, which allows them to improve their creativity and passion in Architecture and Construction.”

The teams

Two sets of prizes were presented to high school students and to university students.  First university prize went to the Comeback team from the K20XDC class, with the K22XDC Vodka Team coming second and the Dream team of K23XDD3 third. Extra prizes were awarded to the K21CSUXDD and Quang Binh teams. 

The first and second high school prizes went to the 2DHL and NHS teams, both from the Le Qui Don High School for the Gifted, and the third to the Giants team from Que Son High School. The prize for the “Most Beautiful Bridge” was won by the Loi Bao team from the Le Qui Don High School for the Gifted, the “Best Loading Capacity” prize went to the Infinity War team from Phan Chau Trinh High school and the “Best Forecast” prize to FAF team from Que Son High School.

Tran Le Huy, an 11th grade student from the Le Qui Don High School for the Gifted, said: “This is the second time I have participated in the competition at DTU. We come here to share information and make new friends. I hope that DTU will continue to offer us this opportunity to participate and demonstrate our abilities.”
