DTU Students Participate in a Business Startup Training Course

The DTU Startup Center collaborated with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI) and the Business Forum Newspaper to run a Business Startup Training Course on June 10th and 11th, to teach students about business startups and provide them with some hands-on experience. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Deputy-Chairperson of the Vietnam Association of Corporate Directors (VACD), a Senior lecturer of ILO and the course trainer; Ms. Nguyen Huong, a representative of the Business Forum Newspaper; Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Vice-Provost and fifty DTU students attended.

Dr. Phu said: “Early in 2017, DTU was the first private university in Vietnam to obtain educational quality accreditation in Vietnam. Based on the recommendations of the Evaluation Team, DTU is working to improve the standard of education, encourage more research activities by lecturers and students and promote start-up projects at the university. This course is dedicated to stimulate student entrepreneurship while they are still at the university and equip them with the practical skills to succeed in their future careers.”

During the two-day course, Mr. Ngoc taught the students about business startups and how they can analyze and evaluate new business opportunities using SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). Mr. Ly Dinh Quan, a startup expert and the CEO of the SONGHAN incubator, talked about necessary startup skills and his practical experiences. 

At the end of the course, trainees were awarded Certificates of Completion. As a result, DTU students have learned what is necessary to become entrepreneurs and to make specific plans for their future careers.
