On September 15th, new K20 students took part in extracurricular activities to kick-off the new academic year.

Dr. Vo Thanh Hai talks at the event

After giving a warm welcome to the new students, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, DTU Vice-Provost, said: "DTU was founded at a time when our country was implementing educational reform. Our motto became: 'We Do Everything for the Rights of our Students'. Over the years, our significant achievements have been widely recognized. All of you will experience a new and quite different teaching and learning environment. The changes we have made at DTU will surprise you. With the guidance of our excellent teaching staff, I am sure that you all will steadily become more proactive in your studies, in order to become members of our new, international community. Vietnam will join ASEAN community in 2015, which will be a turning point in our comprehensive integration into the Asian economy. Therefore, you should study harder, perfect your English and apply your practical skills to succeed in your future careers."

Many students attend the event

During the first two weeks of the new academic year, Dr. Nguyen Phi Son, Head of the DTU Training Department, and Mr. Nguyen Thoi, Head of DTU Student Affairs, gave introductions to life at DTU, concerning its history, development, mission, goals and academic programs.

Pham Minh Hung, a new Architectural student, said: “Though I had spent time researching DTU previously, I still felt like a fish out of water, slightly disoriented because everything seemed so strange, my new friends, teachers and the study environment. However, the enthusiastic DTU lecturers have increased my confidence and I know now that I must now study diligently to excel.”
