K19 Tourism Students Visit the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa

On November 27th, the DTU Tourism department organized a field trip to the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa for twenty-five students to give them a practical overview of the field they are majoring in. This activity is aimed to improve relationships with local companies and give students the opportunity to achieve better results and gain real-time experience.

Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Thao, the Human Resources Manager at the Hyatt, enthusiastically invited students to visit some important parts of the hotel, including the front and back offices. Students were able to experience working conditions in a professional environment, in the dining rooms, the changing rooms and uniform supply rooms. They were very impressed by the modern architecture and landscaping at the resort. Although the field trip only lasted one hour, students were able to gain much information about services offered, such as the general characteristics of the guest rooms, ways of serving food in the restaurants, working at the swimming-pool, in the child-care facilities and at the spa.

During the field trip, students had opportunity to meet Hyatt employees, including some DTU alumni who have already been promoted to important jobs at the hotel. This gave the visiting students more confidence and motivated them to work hard to get similar positions at the Hyatt or other hotels. Ms. Thanh Thao helped students understand the rules and regulations for working at the Hyatt and encouraged them to apply for positions there for internships or regular employment in the future.

“When I was first a freshman, I didn’t know much about my major. As a result of my hard work studying, I was proud to be invited on the Hyatt field trip. This trip was really an important way for freshmen like myself to learn more practical things about our major. I’m now even more confident and aware that I must study even harder to be prepared for a professional working environment like the Hyatt after graduation. I want to thank my lecturers in the Tourism Operations and Hospitality Management department as well as the management at the Hyatt for hosting such a meaningful and practical field trip” said Hoang Thi Dieu Huyen, of the K19PSU class.

After the trip, representing the Faculty of Tourism Operations and Hospitality Management, lecturer Pham Thi My Linh thanked representatives of the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa for their warm welcome and for giving lecturers and students the opportunity to visit the resort and listen to experiences and learn some useful information about the hotel business.
